Every time i try to load one of my saves it just starts a new game. Does anyone know how i might fix this? This happened a few months ago so i'm not exactly sure what might have caused this. I just really didn't feel like dealing with it then. It was just freezing when i tried to load one of my worlds, but i read that deleting the skin packs wold fix it and it did but now i'm having this problem. Like an idiot i have not backed up my saves. I'm not really sure if i'm posting this in the right place. If not sorry. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've worked really hard on my world.
Is it only happening to one gamesave? Try loading other worlds and see if the problem persists. If it's only happening to the one file, there is definitely something wrong with it and, I'm afraid to say, it may be gone forever. Let this be a lesson to always save a backup copy of your worlds.
It sounds like you do not have the latest update installed. Maps will regenerate on the original build of the game when loading a save made with a newer version. Make sure that you are connected to LIVE next time you launch the game to re-download the update. The freezing with skin packs would also indicate that you are using an older build.
Interesting effect! I would have never expected that.
OP: Did you perhaps clear your cache recently and have not played Minecraft online since doing so? Clearing your cache clears away the updates and takes you back to the original version. The updates automatically reload once you start up Minecraft again while connected to LIVE.

Same. The bay in one of my old worlds had a 3 boat dock. Then 1.8 came and FROZE the ENTIRE bay. yay me. There was a water route that could get me to the bottom half of my map. Oh well.

I know I'm going to sound like a n00b for this, but how do you save a backup of a world? Do you use a USB/Thumb Drive, or do you just use the Cloud Storage?

You can use cloud storage, but it's not 100% safe. Then again, nothing is, but a flash drive is more reliable, or any form of solid-state memory device in your posession. I keep two backup files, one on a flash drive and one on my computer. More copies = more safe. For every storage device you have the same copy on, that's an additional piece of hardware that would have to fail at the same time as the rest to leave no trace of your file.

Any way to sync saves to 2 different places? You know have 2 USB flash drives but only hit save game once and it saves it to both? OR do you have to go to memory/storage and manually move them every so often?

As far as I know, that's not possible. It is kind of a pain to copy files every time you're done playing. But, you'll be glad you went through the trouble if your save becomes corrupted.
