Will Mojang be updating the Xbox 360 Edition to include things such as potions, the End, strongholds, breeding, and ect? I've been wondering this for awhile. A few of my friends that I currently play Minecraft with are doubtful that it will be updated. Do any of you guys know forrsure?
You should check around the forums a bit before you ask questions. There is a twitter thread with the new updates to be put into the game at the top of said twitter list.
Strongholds are already in the game. Potions and Breeding have both been announced as being included in the next update (1.0.1). The End will likely come in the TU8 update (1.2.3) although I don't think it has been officially announced as yet. PS: The updates for the XBox version are issued by 4J Studios, not Mojang.
A simple answer for your question without making you to go to another topic where you will find no answer too, yes, but nobody knows when, can be in the next year or 2014, because they dont give no ETA. Probably because they dont are working on X360 version now.

Yes, I feel as if the updates for Xbox 360 Edition come a little slow. It wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't updated until 2014.

Yeah, since we have to pay for both versions, I would like to see efforts to keep both up to date, or the XBLA versions get less love because is less expensive? Dont know..

You should check out the Version History for both the PC Beta Series and the XBox Edition and compare before you make your assessment. The equivalent PC Beta version of the Original Release of the XBox Edition occurred a little less than a year apart; that is the PC Beta 1.6.6 was released on May 31, 2011 and the Original Release of the XBox Edition (which was equivalent to that PC version) was released on May 5, 2012. The 1.8.2 Beta version of the PC was released on September 15, 2011 and the Sound Update was released on November 15, 2011. The 1.8.2 update of the XBox edition was released on October 16, 2012 (and it included the Sound Update). About the same length of time, really.

So why they have to do the same outdated update instead to going to the last available on PC?

Because Mojang does not likely immediately release the codes for whatever new ideas they are developing for the game to enable 4J to rewrite the programming in the language used by the XBox in order to release it at the same time as they do nor to they stop developing its new ideas for the game to enable 4J to catch up to them.
Also (speculating) the agreements as to what procedure would be used to do the ports was most likely set up and signed long before 1.2.3 was ever released to the public by Mojang. There may also have been some concern as to just how much of the game will actually fit and run smoothly on the 10-year-old technology of the XBox (which is now much less powerful that most of the PCs on the market currently).

Sorry but it doesnt explain nothing, the PC version is in 1.4.5 for almost 20 days now, and the future patch of XBLA will be 1.2.late instead of a already released 1.4.5, because of 'new ideas'? Isnt it very poor excuse?
And 10 years old tecnology? How many people did you know in 2002, which had a Tri-core 3.2GHZ CPU? Ok, the 512RAM is low, but the minimum requeriments of PC is 512MB for a limitless(theorically) world(you probably know that XBLA version does have limits), in a system which runs way more programs than a game dedicated platform(and dont use the HEAVY java), again, another very poor excuse.

You assume alot. The problem is people see minecraft PC and wonder why havent we got that in xbox yet. It might be written in a different code but we know what we want from the PC version. Unlike the PC version, who knew nothing about what what coming, we do. The PC bug list is available so I would expect those bugs not to be in the XBOX version, just transcripting code to code isnt what the developers should be doing. They should be looking at the project as a whole and delivering it to the standard of the PC as quickly as they can. It might be 10 year old technology but that just means 10 years of more experienced developers who should know what is possible or not.

IF a particular PC doesn't run Minecraft, the purchaser usually is prepared to blame their PC. They might upgrade it. XBox users don't have that option. You can disagree, but what I was saying is that the parties to the porting agreements MAY have had a concern along those lines when they put the porting deal together, so they devised a plan that included an update sequence.
As for ideas being new not explaining anything (BTW, you used a double negative) - How do you proposed 4J rewrite the code of something that Mojang writes instantly when, as a separate company, Mojang probably wants to release it for themselves first, see if it works, fix some of the bugs... before it passing that code onto 4J for porting onto a different platform. This alone creates some delay.
As the release dates show, the XBox platform was first released a year behind the PC and for all intents and purposes, it is STILL a year behind the PC. Whether 1.4 will ever make it onto the XBox is very doubtful... because 4J have said they would like to take the game in their own direction after they complete the 1.2.3 update.

How are they not working on the Xbox version? It's their job. And they said the update will come within 3-5 months (However this is very likely it will change) so it will most likely come sometime in 2013.

The porting agreement obviously covers up to 1.2.3; and from what I can see that is what exactly 4J are delivering in roughly the same time frame overall as Mojang originally delivered it to PC users. Your last comment about the developers having 10 years more of experience just because the XBox is 10 years old is, excuse me, utter garbage. Java has been around, I believe, longer than C++ or C#.

Yeah, they already know the road, they dont need to re-explore it on each platform.

You know about the cross-functionally?(maybe isnt cross-platform but) With your comment, it will be impossible, because de XBLA version will be always 1000 steps behind.

The point isnt only the slow update for what they already have updated, they are making the same steps instead of jump to the last step of the PC version.

It is a console, outdated, heap of steaming poo, that only serves for netflix now.

Dude, C++ = 1985, Java = 1995, C# = 2001 and was influencied by Java, C++ and others. I now figured out how are we wasting our time. Thanks and bye.

Please remember that this is the Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition. This is not just a direct port of the PC. The Edition started way back when Minecraft was in it's 1.6 something version. So that is where we started. When the game was to be annouced, which was the first Minecon last year, the current and official version to the game was what we basically have right now. Just minus enchanting, brew, breeding, and the End. There were no jungles.
4J have said that they would update to the 1.2 something version of the game and after that they would take a new route. Remember, this is the Xbox Edition, not a port, so we will never have the same version as the PC edition of Minecraft.

Thanks for the link and details; appreciate it.

Google brought up mixed results.
