Yah I have found plenty of lava sources. There's one village not too far from my spawn where they have encased a pool of lava with stone. I might end up doing it this way since I have found practically everything BUT diamond...
Due to *ahem* size issues, some X360 maps are created without certain resources (Cactus, Sugar cane, and Pumpkins being most common.) If I were in your shoes I would give my world another once over, and barring actually finding some, I would just send myself a care-package from creative, but then again I don't GAF about leaderboards. If you do search the forums for the term "block transmuter." I haven't needed one in a while so I'm not sure they work any more, but if it's important to you it seems worth a try (It's a pretty simple redstone device.)
Regarding clay and mushrooms, they tend to be plentiful, if you need clay, bring a door (It creates a you-size air pocket) and a shovel and go to town on the ocean floor. You'll find the mushrooms eventually, I tend to find more in caves and in the nether then on the surface of the overworld.
Make sure you're mining on y=16 and under for diamonds (I recommend Y=10-12)

Ah I see. Well I know diamonds can be found way down there so I usually dig all the way to bedrock and then hollow out a nice sized little room and start mining a door-sized column that goes straight back for a long distance or until I hit lava/water or get bored, and then I go back to where I started it, and scoot two blocks over and do it again so I can be sure to effectively 'comb' the area. It takes forever, though.
Also, I did send myself a care package in creative hehe. Just 1 cacti and 1 red shroom and from there I bone mealed a massive shroom and planted the cacti in sand and it has already grown alot.

Well I found a mineshaft 262 37 -403 ... found more red mushrooms 224 64 372 but not one freakin Cactus. You officially have no desert biome is probably why no cacti. But! consolation prize,, Dig straight down @ 225 11 -404 and ull find a diamond vein with i think 6 diamonds and right before you hit diamonds you'll run into some gold... happy hunting!

Well I found a mineshaft 262 37 -403 ... found more red mushrooms 224 64 372 but not one freakin Cactus. You officially have no desert biome is probably why no cacti. But! consolation prize,, Dig straight down @ 225 11 -404 and ull find a diamond vein with i think 6 diamonds and right before you hit diamonds you'll run into some gold... happy hunting!
Oh really?! Well thanks for pointing that out for me now I'm happy! Lol. And yah no deserts.... argh... I don't really like sand/deserts but at least if I had one I could tolerate it instead of not having one at all... You're my savior xD

No problem! I like deserts it never rains in deserts so my home is always in a desert.... I hate rain. :-/

I have actually never really built a house or anything else in a desert... except for one time in creative I made a sand castle in the desert... lol >_< looks ugly! not enough colors! needs pink sand..

Before I forget, I do have one other question... I had mentioned earlier in this topic that I found two monster spawner places and that one of them had a chest. Well the second one didn't have one at all. I heard every time you find one there is always a chest? That doesn't seem to be the case with this one! =/
I have definitely ran into spawners with no chests in them so they are not a guarantee.
Well that sucks! Why can't they always have one? I even spent extra time mining up the placed cobble stone and dirt in hopes that one was buried around it or something. That actually happened to me once before in my friend's world. I was running around in his world and I found a monster spawner and a stack of dirt blocks near it so I just started digging for dirt blocks and there was a chest inside there! Not joking at all!

Yeah some at times are nearby or especially in spawners on sand theyll be buried.... which... is not something you should concern yourself with since no desert! :-p But you'll find a ton of them, so far in my world I've found 10 spawners. At least you can make some cool mob grinders or something with the couple you've found... that is unless you destroyed that poor helpless little spinning pig :-(

No I didn't destroy it, I left it alone. But what I did do was encase the whole room with cobble stone and then set a wooden door there to get in and out lol. Idk how to make a mob grinder, or whatever.
lol they're pretty simple mine (unless its spiders) are all water and piston based. I'll try to get some pics or something to give you an idea.. just a little redstone a lever a some pistons and BAM! mob killing machine!

There's some pics from diff angles the redstone is easy just lines down the middle with the pistons on the bottom and up some steps to the pistons above and that's it.
and I don't have a PVR so its a quick video I just uploaded from my phone showing the "results" :-D
ed me off that there were no drops from all those zombies! Normally its a ton of zombie flesh... :-/
