For some reason, i can seriously not get seeds to work.
I tried a survival island seed and yes, it did spawn the island, sort of. It was like a variation of what the island is but it had no tree and the cave wasn't there, like it should've been. Here is the survival island I tried: http://www.minecraftseeds.info/2011/09/8320668148713193150.html
I tried Destiny<3 and where I spawned there was snow but it certainly wasn't 95% full and not anything related to what he described. It just looks like a normal random map with a weird coincidence of having a little snow.
Unfortunately, some of the better survival island seeds I've tried were mentioned in other forum threads and the posters haven't bothered to actually post them to the seeds list. So, you may also want to try searching this forum for "survival island" to see what other suggestions come up. Keep in mind, not everyone views seeds exactly the same, so some of the survival island seeds don't actually spawn you on the island with the single tree. I know the one proposed near the bottom of the seeds with images on the list, spawns you on a barren island and you have to swim for the one with the single tree. It does make it more challenging than ones that spawn you right where the tree is.
As for seeds almost completely covered with snow... well, I've seen several posts asking for one; but have not found one that is actually mostly snow. Super large snow biomes may be something that the terrrain generation program is just programmed not to do. I've tried randomly generating lots and lots of seeds, so far; not much luck in getting anything but very small snow biomes often tucked away in one corner of the map. Seems odd given the number of people who complained that their old seeds were suddenly buried in snow after the 1.8.2 update came out. My old seed used to have a significant snow biome in which I built the beginning of an igloo village. It no longer snows there and the igloos look completely out of place; but, at least my harbour didn't freeze over and I've been able to expand it by breaking the ice that used to be adjacent to it.

When next you stumble onto a seed with lots of snow... I think you should post it to the seeds thread just so there's one there for people who have been looking specifically for such a thing.
I wonder if there's something not completely random about the random seed generation on each individual XBox. I never seem to get random snow seeds or even very many random ocean biome ones (survival island candidates). Whenever I generate random seeds, 99% of the time I get the mixed biome variety with small snow biomes in one or two of the corners along with some forest, some desert, some plains, some hills, and about 3 villages.
Yeah I'll keep a look out for one. Because i seem to come across so odd ones sometimes that do not suit my tastes. Most the time though I happen to run into quite a few ocean biomes which is troubling for me. At least about 40% of the time. I do run into quite a few you run into where it looks like it tries to fit all biome types into one map. lol
I have found good and bad ones that I liked, as I have mentioned. So at least I found a few I could play on.:D
