Don’t know if it’s a glitch or not but ever since the patch to fix bugs it seems as if they only thing that spawns in my world is animals, tons of animals, They seem to spawn in packs of 15-20 at a time in clumps I think I spend more time killing them than I do mobs.
So what is the problem? If you go back and read the patch notes, you'll see that there was a bug FIX so that more animals would spawn and less wolves, as there was a ton of wolves before the bug fix in most peoples worlds. There was countless threads about not being able to find any animals for food. Yes it seems like there are a lot of animals now, but I'd rather have more than not enough. I also seem to be seeing less hostile mobs since the fix. But oh well, at least there are plenty of steaks! And the chance to have a decent farm now.
"You can't please all of the people all of the time...." The spawn rates of the animals was increased in the last bug fix update in order to counter a problem many people were having with too many wolves spawning and filling up the spawn cap.
I WISH I had your problem. My world is still pretty much devoid of passive animals. I think it must be that my cap has been reached, but they're all trapped in some cave or sink hole that, so far, I've been unable to find. "Feast" while you can! Famine may still be just around the corner.
This is redicolous or how ever u spell that damn word. First you people keep asking WHY IS THERE NO PASsIVE MOB BLAH BLAH BLAH now they increased it you people are crying that they spawn too much? r u kidding me? dont kill em if you dont want em spawning just ignore em

Anybody else having this problem?
I actually found a spot where there were about 15 or so pigs in one spot right near my start point! Wouldn't call it a problem though.
Also, I basically feel compelled to mention the derpy herd of cows I found in the ocean..... I had to use a bucket for air just to get some of that delicious steak..... It was rather waterlogged to say the least....

U mad bro? I never said anything about pasive mobs and not crying over it i was just asking if anybody else had that issue.
on a side note i love how this forum is turning into the Call of duty forum. A persion posts a question then the posts count hogs jump in to say what ever is on their mind just to increase their post count.

Animals = passive mobs... so, now I'm truly confused about what you were asking? I was honestly trying to answer your question and gave you the history of what caused the increase in the spawning on animals (aka passive mobs). The spawn rates were intentionally increased in the recent bug fix update, so, yeah, it's quite likely that other people are seeing lots and lots of animals in their worlds. As I indicated, however, the spawn rates were only part of the original problem. The other part of the problem causing an apparent lack of animals in some worlds is that the animals are tending to get stuck in caves and ravines and/or are swimming far out to sea. On my world, I had a large number of animals spawn the first time I played after the bug fix update; but they have all since disappeared (down caves nearby I suspect) and, in my world, I have not seen ANY animals for several Minecraft days.

I don't think you really have to worry about 4J taking the spawn rates back down. It would be nice if they adjusted their AI to stop them from getting stuck in caves or swimming way out to sea so frequently. I believe this was also an issue on the PC for a time, so an arbitrary fix inside the next title update maybe in the works. IDK.

Perhaps some older people just enjoy conversing with younger ones? There are worse activities to spend one's elder years on.
