I know, I know, not another idiot talking about mods and xbox, gee whiz, this guy is ungrateful, yadda yadda yadda, but listen. There is a vast population of Minecrafters that want Tekkit, which would be awesome for most people and horrible for some. We all have our opinions on mods/ texture packs, but I think I found a PC modification that will enlighten every Xbox Minecraft: Shaders.
You know how on all of those Minecraft music videos, the graphics look incredible and the sun has a greater affect on the landscape? That's because CaptainSparklez, Slamacow, etc. are using this beautiful mod called the Shaders Mod. Just look...
Now this is how I think it would work: For those who dislike this (I would like to find somebody who does) there can be a simple switch or button turning it on and off.
I think this modification would be incredible, and if 4J got permission form the creator, everybody wins. However, the same does not apply for other mods because I believe this modification is one of a kind. It basically has no detrimental effect whatsoever, all it does is add an amazing texture to the game that is everything about vanilla Minecraft but better.
Your Xbox 360 would literally melt trying to run the shaders.
People need awesome computers, which are way ahead of the Xbox 360, to run those shaders. Even then, it lags incredibly bad. Even high end Xbox 360 games don't have shaders that good.
That's what the new console is for, no one knows when it comes out. But estimations say 2013- 2014. It's supposed to be 6x more powerful

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.

The power of gaming.
This may seem great but there is always a better, somewhere...
Maybe hidden in a secret government warehouse they hold ideas for the console after this...

Meh, technology for computers doubles every 18 months... So by 2020 we should have hit a wall due to physical limitations.. Then move on to tech"ing" our own bodies

There is always room for optimization. Motherboards which can utilize multiple CPUs already exist. Once the limit of a CPU is eventually hit, you can just install a second processor. At that point, gaming will be completely ridiculous. I imagine graphics at this point will be practically steps away from our real vision. Although, following the trend, games will probably be even more linear than most of the horrible titles that have came out lately.
I've always thought that the limit of graphics capability will come when the real-time models, meaning the things you manipulate yourself in a game and aren't pre-rendered, are indistinguishable from real life objects and are optimized enough to move at 60 fps or better. Short of boosting efficiency, I don't see how they could go any further than that, purely on a graphics standpoint.
Xbox would melt blah blah blah. Lots of games with great graphics, maybe not as advanced as shader mod but a better, more dynamic lighting mod shouldn't be impossible surely.
Very simple and basic shaders may be possible, but shaders on the level of the mod that the OP is talking about would never happen. Minecraft already uses most of the Xbox 360's processing power as it is and shadowing takes up a massive amount of processing power.
Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition will never look this good...
The game already runs at 720p and struggles to maintain its 60fps sometimes. Adding the full power of those shaders would melt the processors and motherboard of your Xbox 360. Other 360 games may be bigger and better looking than Minecraft, but that is because they are nothing like Minecraft. You cannot manipulate every single inch of the world.
Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition will never look this good...
I think my PC would melt trying to run MC w/ that mod, it already has trouble enough just using some of the higher res texture packs in a vanilla copy, let alone adding that in...

i think I wet myself a little when I saw this video, that is amazing but yes sadly the 360 would never be able to handle MC and those graphics but hopefully the next console would
Why do other games on the xbox have amazing graphics and shades (Battlefield 3 and Halo 4) but for Minecraft it seems like it's impossible?
Because the possible area which textures could cover is much higher in Minecraft than any other 360 title. Haven't you ever glitched under the ground in a game? There aren't more layers under there, it's just a fall into death or nothingness.
Because you can't tear apart the entire world in BF3 or Halo 4 like you can with Minecraft.
Anyway, as a response to any and all shaders: shaders, shmaders. Those shaders are too bright. Reminds me of them Skyrim shaders that are way too bright and make everything look like Toy Story with the TV contrast set at max.
Besides, video game graphics today are fine. Any better and they'll look too real. Think about it. Millions of gamers not realizing they're not playing a game, trying to double jump IRL and spraining their ankles. Your county's healthcare system can't handle it. Even you, Canada.
I doubt many people, if anyone, would start thinking real life were a video game just because graphics in video games are getting to the point of being realistic. We are a really long ways away from have photo realistic graphics in video games anyways.
These are about as close as we can get right now...
CryEngine 3
Mods are anyway, play the game and if it isnt good enough as is, it will never be good enough to players asking for a modifacation to change the experience your having, because the game simply isnt good enough on its own. Which makes me think that adding these "mods" to the game really doesnt seem like it would add anything other than a better shading feature, which to me to be a selfish way to view playing a video game.
