well when everyone has 1, yes bleh, but before. lol. So much better to have. but when creative casme out, way to many people started then.
before creative, at least you knew they worked hard on it so that deserves some recognition.
however, i just don't like cities. i'm not impressed by them in the least bit.
they look like a bunch of clumped together.

yeah, and funny you mention pre creative, my city before creative is 3 times the size of my superflat city, sure its 3 months before creative but it kind of gets boring building them, especially in creative.

i've never worked on a city but i'm sure they take FOREVER to complete. i just don't have the patience to build anything enormous.
and i think it gets boring building anything in creative.
i was excited creative finally came to the 360
but after building one house, i was like "allllrriiiiiighty theeeen... boring."

I started my city of amber back in 1.6. So I am legit (:
But people just want to be known and popular. It's america man, what do you expect? (Most people who have mc xbla are american so I just assumed)

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
The thing about cities is that it takes SO long to make them.
Depends how creative you make it look. Some cities have no eye color or creativeness
Some are just down right amazing. Also If you craft alone like me, you become pround at what you make Ugly or not.
I don't like having someone else help me craft things. Its just so abnormaly...
anyways, I have a village a couple of creepers and a bounch of trees then a so called city in my flat land.
But my so called city has like idk...13 buildings in it. Then a Road. It looks so plane...Pretty much a Town i guess right?
Im Planing on covering my whole map before christmas. Its my Xmas gift to you all. It will be open to join soon as im finished
Anyways. Cites are fine. Nothings wrong with them. If your a creative builder you can make a city look amazing.
If you have help you can also make an amazing city. They just take time....

Everyone I've seen or talked to seems to feel this way. Am I the only one who thinks building in survival mode is boring and extremely tedious? Also, I would think it will always be boring to build a city, no matter what mode you're playing. It's essentially building the same thing over and over, swapping in different materials from time to time.
I don't see why people haven't started going for "real" megabuilds. By this, I mean one huge and epic project, such as a castle, tower, detailed 3D art. These wouldn't be so tedious, plus they would be much more impressive than seeing 50+ versions of the same thing.

Building In survival isn't something i would call fun...Its more of...well....Its not fun all i have to say...
And Building Cities can lead to something great. Not all cities are the same.
Some have Lost cities
Some have medeival.
And my fav would be Underwater or sky cities...
Either way its the style that counts. If your making 4 sides for a building then your city is no other from anyone elses out there.
With the Right mix of colors and style you can have your self a mind blowing city

Don't get me wrong, I've seen some mind blowing cities... just not on MCXBLA. I've seen several good ones, but nothing that truly amazed me. They tend to be a bunch of skyscrapers, a gas station, an apartment complex, other generic modern builds. A lot of the ancient or futuristic cities I've seen on MCPC are just insane! The buildings are all made with interesting shapes and unorthodox materials.
Underwater cities usually end up being pretty boring as well. Which is understandable, considering how difficult it is to build underwater. When a lot of effort is put into them, they can be quite amazing though. One of the main downfalls would be the poor visibility one has in the water, it's a bit more difficult to fully appreciate the build.
With that all being said, my opinion still stands that I find a single construct more impressive. If someone puts the same amount of time and work into one structure, that they would've put toward a city, it can become a thing of legend.
Yes there are bland, they aren't unique. It's really just layered wool. People build them because the think as long as it reaches the limit it is impressive
The main reason I work on a city is that I've always been a huge fantasy/rpg fan, loved the way the architecture looks. Minecraft gives me a pretty good way of designing my own medieval city. Modern cities aren't my thing really, I've seen some nice ones tho. Pixel art, again seen some nice stuff but not my thing. Redstone builds amaze the crap out of me but I couldn't do it.
Main thing I do is try to build with the land, you may have to flatten places sometimes but that happens. I do have some pics of mine that i just recently posted in the creations section . (Wyrmgard) It doesn't have a ton of buildings yet but I chose the most mountain-y area i could find on the map and started. The build style may be familiar if you've seen some of Madnes64's videos, I do use some of his tut buildings to but there's a mixture my own builds in there as well.
when i was on CM everyone was building citys, twin towers with fricken planes sticking out of them, i just dont see the appeal, for me i like to see medieval towns, old style buildings, windmills, churches, tall ships, small fishing villages,
Friend me and look at my map, started the day creative came out and only about 20% done, with 4 builders on it, in creative. I think you'll like what you see, and might even be able to offer some suggestions, and feedback.
Personally I can't wait for the next update not so much because we might get a higher sky limit but because of upside down stairs and slabs. I was hoping we would get colored wood and side ways logs but i think thats wishful thinking, and will be in another update.
Cities are not too visually appealing to me, especially since most are crammed into a small area.
I do like to have my own personal compound per say. Not a bunch of giant buildings crammed into a super flat world, that is just not visually appealing at all. Now say a city was built according to the terrain over a long section of land and not just sitting in a 16x16 chunk, then that would be way more to my liking.
Also I lag like nobodies business when I am in a world with a bunch of buildings crammed into a small area, I can barely play on that world then.
Building things on survival mode made it feel more like creative mode for me, back before there wasn't creative on the Xbox360
Its great building houses, towers, structures, bridges, etc of any size or shape and knowing that you had spent time gathering the materials needed to create it!
I guess I'm just odd or something. I take pride in the project itself, not holding the right trigger for hours before I can even start on said project. It just feels like a chore to me, I would rather jump straight to the part that is fun for me. I was so determined to build my first calculator completely legit, in survival mode. (I don't have a clue why.) After a week of mining, I only had the adders themselves completed, which are probably less than 5% of the overall size. After this, I learned about the dupe glitch and completed the entire project in about two weeks. Legitimately building this would've taken at least a couple months.
It would be cool to see someone do a megabuild that's 'different' and actually 'unique' from what everyone else has already done, although maybe we won't see anyone attempt anything massive until ANVIL comes to the Xbox360 Edition, then people will really have a great amount of sky space to play with!
Hey now, I have a couple unique builds that I like to think are pretty big.
Usually when I build, its just to get rid of the oodles of extra resources I have from mining. All of the cobblestone will go either to structures, terracing, walls, etc. The dirt will be fill for terraces, for leveling out hills a tad, emptying the water out of a structure. Gravel then gets used for path ways. In that way, the more I'm mining those expendable resources for tools, generally the more I construct topside. Wood works in much the same way, though its more a result of me getting much more wood than I need, and using what's left over for construction projects. This is on survival if It wasn't obvious. Cities, or at least villages in my case, grow from the amount of time I spend surviving, and their style is dictated by whatever extra resources I have.

Also, to those who have a city? what kind? Modern? Medeival?
What makes yours unique?
Do you have screenshots?
Solo build? or friends?

Mine, its modern, pretty reaistic looking things, Accurate WTC, Hospital, etc.
