Just a quick, general question: Are you supposed to be able to view yourself doing the 'zombie arm' animation, or is there a certain button you're supposed to press, OR is it only able to be seen by other players?

Not much information on that kind of stuff. They just released a video and leaved the details to us. So I don't think anyone can have a OFFICIAL answer but I assume that the it is probably just a button and you can see yourself at any angle/camera view.
When it comes out in 1.2.3, it looks like the feature will happen on the skin you are wearing no matter what. It looks like it doesn't need to be activated or triggered, it just happens.

That doesn't make many sense though. So you are saying if I pick my zombie skin and want to walk normal, I am forced to walk like that? I doubt it is like that. I mean, the ghost and some others,yes but I think some specific ones are optional.
Well they didn't say anything about it, but I assume the animation is only shown to those who see you, but you won't see that animation on yourself.
What I do know is, it will be possible to toggle those on or off.
