Title says it all. Not sure if people have done this before, but does anyone play on creative and then keep everything and switch to survival? As always, please be truthful
I have in some worlds and not in others. I believe in at least trying out all the featues of this game before settling on what works best for me.
In addition, what generally works best for me is variety, so I'll probably continue to create basically hardcore survival worlds and then create other worlds where I set up my base first in creative and then test out how the idea works in a survival mode. Most of my worlds are pretty short lived though because I tend to delete them upon the first or third death of my Steve. I do have a main build world from 1.7.3 that I'm determined to complete the building plans in survival only (mostly peaceful though). When I finish and decide to file it away for posterity, I will probably pop into creative mode just to add in a few melons to the garden since that is the only way I can introduce them to that world.
Well yes and no. At least on this current generation what I do is:
1. Spruce up the villages.
2. might add to those villages or to the terrain, then find a spot where I want to start.
3. I make a bonus chest and put some stuff in, however not that it is going to be much use since I play on peaceful.
(Kinda afraid of the enderman messing up my village.)
4. I make a second chest in a blacksmith usually or just some big house. That is where I deposit my creative tools and blocks.
5. I switch back N forth between the two and use separate chests for each.
That is pretty much how I do it when I just flat out start in creative and have villages around. However I find myself always going back to my primary 1.7.3 world and messing around in that, which creative will hopefully never ever touch, well maybe if I decide to make a secondary file of it, since it has absolutely no pine.lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
If you have the will-power:
You play in survival only. You may have another creative world, but you never mix them. Hats off to you.
If you don't have the will-power:
There's no point in playing survival. You're spoiled with the ability to jump back and forth between modes. Need a diamond sword or armor? No problem- get a chest full of 'em while you're at it. Creeper gonna get you? Quick switch and just fly away! The point is once you switch, you're hooked. Survival becomes too "easy" and kinda pointless.
Personally, I had never played creative before. After this update I tried it. The intent was to get myself "set up" and then go to survival. Got my base, mob grinder, farms, and chests full of food, weapons, armor, tools, mine cart items, ores, etc., all ready to make the switch.
But then I thought: "Why? What's the point? What's the difference between having a chest full of diamond swords or food and getting some whenever I need it?"
I was seduced by the Dark Side.
Don't let it happen to you.
I play on my survival world and I have never loaded up creative on it, but I can't lie, I have been tempted with the diamond frustration. Then again I have another world were it is only creative but I get no joy out of building in it.
If you want to play your SURVIVAL world in creative and give yourself stuff, then by all means feel free. The game is meant to be played how YOU want it to be played, not how everyone else and their mother tells you how they think it should be played. There are not any MC rule books saying you will die by fire if you combine Survival and Creative...
To me willpower has not much to do with it, as the only thing I use swords for, at least in the new worlds, is for spiderwebs. I combine those new worlds in mind with what i like doing and what I don't. Since I like building with the terrain, creative wouldn't make much sense to me, as you do not gain back those resouces in creative.
For the most part in creative I would use wood stuff since I don't like cutting trees down. That part I would use creative for things like that that are regenerable, mainly wood. For mining, that is something I enjoy doing, as I love it when I find resources and such, and making a storage room to store it all.
As far as diamond stuff... I tried that once, it just doesn't really work out much, I would rather use my stone tools to do most the work. Using iron only for those that can't be harvested with stone, The only diamond tool I would ever use every so often just so happens to be a pickaxe, and that is for obsidian that gets in my way when I use water on lava pools, else I would mold what I need of obsidian.
More or less I tend to do my best to balance both creative and survival for the way I see it. I am a builder first most, so playing in peaceful most times doesn't bother me.

I voted "no," but I know that will change after the next update. The ONLY reason I plan on switching my survival world to creative is to add in the things I can't get currently. And then it will only be the things I can't get (vines, melons, VILLAGERS, dark wood, etc) before I switch it back to survival.
I don't plan on spawning in a chest full of diamonds. Or gold. I just want to keep my original world and still receive the benefits of the new items constantly being released. I didn't get the benefit of having a Village spawned in my world, so I created a new world, found a village, copied its design, went back to my original world and rebuild the village there (from scratch - no creative and with upgrades) and there it sits, vacant. So the only way to get villagers walking around is to switch to creative and spawn them in once they are available.
I don't want to turn my world creative, but it really is the only choice I have if I want to keep everything I've ever done.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
No. If I load a survival world, then it stays survival. I kinda think that there's no point switching because once you're in creative, you can be too tempted to give yourself what you need, then switching back you end up not looking for anything. Kinda ruins my games. So, just no.
I've used creative once. Built a house on superflat. Stood back and looked at it, and it lacked creativity. Seemed to me that cause I had everything I needed, I couldn't build.
No, I have never once switched one of my Survival save to Creative. I believe it defeats the purpose of going out and looking for supplies on your own to survive.
But that's just my opinion though. : )

... but the question is have you switched from Creative to Survival?
What's funny is, there was several posts with lots of people saying now important it was to be able to switch modes, that it really doesn't matter, that it's important to be able to play however they want to. I was one of the few who thought the game itself shouldn't allow you to switch modes (cause it cheapens survival).
Oh well, what's done is done.
Life goes on.
Water under the bridge.
Etc.
I use creative to construct an awesome world, then switch to survival so I can play on it. I don't cheat and give myself additional supplies from creative though.
This is a good question, Reason I may say that is becuase today I kept telling myself If i should A.Play survival legit or B.Go fill up my chest with USEFUL things still making it fun.
Example |
Arrows - I can see myself wanting these for later
TNT - When i need some space for a mini build ill just use some TNT for ground leveling.
And a couple of other things.
But None of that Diamond armror chest and ect.
No Boxes full of food. All that takes the fun out of survival itself.
It limits yourself if you do this. At first i didn't wanna do it.
But as of today i added some arrows, TNT and some Powered rails.
THats it. If i can't hunt for diamond i don't wanna play survial.
60% of the time im underground

Also OP Post: You said Creative to Survival, I wouldn't...It kinda throws away the whole run around the map and find items and survial thing. Ill make a Creative PVP map thats about it...

I think you just really need to work on developing your own willpower rather than overly concerning yourself with everyone else's willpower. For the people who have been actually responding to the reverse question the answer seems to be overwhelmingly that they have the willpower to create a world in a survival mode and leave it in a survival mode.
As for taking a creative world and changing it into a survival one at some point, I don't see the problem. The leaderboards and achievements have been deactivated, so why can't people be allowed to create things like puzzle maps and then play in them in a survival mode just to make playing in those great creations a little more interesting with the mobs turned on. It's not "cheating" in a survival world, it's making a creative one more fun.
The only time when I switch from Creative to Survival is when a village looks jacked up and I wanna fix it. I never give myself some stuff(my friends always do this).
When I do switch(not to make the village better), I just want to start a world with a cool looking house. Yeah, it ruins the aspect of true survival, I know what you guys are gonna say.
I never mix the two modes on the same world. Once I create a world, it is for better or worse always played in the mode it was created in. What I will do, is make two versions of the same seed. In the creative version I’ll xray the ground for ideas on where points of interest are, but that’s the limit.
