Do you think Minecraft will move to the next console by Microsoft when it is released? (2013?)
I hope so as it probably will be able to handle multiplayer better. As well as larger worlds.
If so, what version do you think it will start on? where the 360 version left off maybe?
Yea I definitely think it will be. Microsoft will lose money if they dont import they're highest selling/ most popular games at the very least to their next console, I mean, would you buy the next xbox if you cant play Halo 4 or Minecraft or any other of the current games on it?
Also new tech will probably allow at the very least bigger worlds since the 360 is working on 7 year old tech ^^
There is no confirmed date on 2013, they said it would be around 2013 holidays to 2015 mid summer.
Also, according to the leaked slide presentation a while back. They will be using back up (not sure exact name) so you can play all 360 games on it.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
They will have minecraft on the new xbox you can count on it. Not only will the next gen consoles have 3-4~G of ram, but they will require you to be connected to the internet just to play a game, no offline gaming. This could mean they will add real deticated servers to be able to have much larger worlds and player limits. Here is the link with proof that it will require internet to play next gen consoles. http://m.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/xbox-720-release-date-news-and-rumours-937167

Of course you'll be able to move old worlds to play the old MC on the new console (but you won't want to).
I'm betting that as soon as the new console date is announced, and developers get the new software packages to develop games for it, 360 game development will virtually stop and all the big games will be completely redone to take advantage of the new console's capabilities. In other words, you won't want to play MC360 anymore... cause MC720 will come out. Think "Minecraft II" with features and visuals you haven't' even dreamed of yet!

Backwards compatibility* But yes, supposedly the new 6 - 8x CPUs will have 2 PPC (PowerPC) cores dedicated to the OS and backwards compatibility. I forget the architecture of the remaining cores, but I believe they were ARM-based.
There is no such thing as proof when it comes to Microsoft's next-gen console. The most reliable sources are Durango dev kit specs, and a leaked PPT slideshow from 2010. Don't believe anything is factual, unless it comes directly from Microsoft. They haven't even announced the new console yet, so I think it will be quite awhile before we know anything official. Requiring internet to play games is another one of those kooky rumors that you could pretty safely assume is false. That's almost as ridiculous as the rumor of the next console not being able to play used games, or not having a disc drive.

If it gets released in mid-summer of 2015, I can probably get it free as a graduation present from my parents.

MC will have burnt out by then. forever the cynic.
Not sure if this was meant to be a joke or not. If it was, I apologize ahead of time.
I could almost guarantee Minecraft will become a cult classic, still being played 30 years from now. I highly doubt a sandbox game will ever come out that accomplishes the same thing MC does, but better. Just today I got back into a 15 year old game, a text-based MUD, from a genre that has been around for almost 40 years. These games survive for decades, though they never evolve graphically. Not only that, the server I've joined (Aardwolf) is quite active, I would go as far as to say thriving. MUDs allow for extremely deep gameplay, loaded with detail, that becomes very clunky when a GUI is incorporated. This can be compared to the creativity and freedom that Minecraft allows. I imagine the hardcore survivalists will move on more quickly, as there are already other games that provide a better survival experience. But I think those looking for a creative medium will turn to Minecraft, for years to come.
There is NO way the next xbox will need a constant internet connection to play games. That would be the dumbest corporate move of all time. I know it is hard to believe these days, but there are still heaps of consumers that do not have internet or access to internet.

No consoles do. Gamecube doesn't even use internet. Xbox 360 you just can't play online games. But you can play offline.
Wii, most games don't use internet. PS3 same as xbox.

Don't worry, it's safe to assume this speculation is false. It originated several years ago, alongside all the other crackpot theories. Necessary connection is about as believable as the rumors that the next console won't have a disc drive and that used games won't be playable.

Its funny that you say that about disc drive because I have heard that Microsoft is going to be moving towards a protected sim card reader, which would allow the developer an almost unlimited size game, and super fast load times.
However being a media hub i highly doubt they would ship a console without sometime of disc reader in them. I have also heard that rumor about the console requiring a constant internet connection to work, but then again way back i also heard that same rumor about the xbox 360, so a grain of salt here is a good analogy.

Games on some sort of SD card would honestly be amazing. Better yet, if the new console had a built-in SSD to use as a swap partition (well, technically not a partition) for the game currently being played. That way, installed games' files could be copied to and read from the SSD, then deleted once you quit the game. Theoretically, it would take longer to boot said game, but it could run much faster.
This could solve the problems of one of the most worrying rumors, that the next Microsoft console is switching to Blu Ray. DVD to Blu Ray is pretty much the same comparison as an HDD to an SSD. One is slow, but can hold more data, while the other is fast with minimal storage capacity. I've never been a fan of Blu Ray, especially after seeing the low FPS PS3 games tend to run.
Either way, I know discs are a slowly dying media, but they're still going to be around for awhile. I think the transition, for the gaming industry, will be much more subtle than simply releasing a console with no disc drive.
Disk will die very soon. Everything will be on the cloud. And hackers will all have pirated/stolen games..

As long as gaming exists, games will be torrented and hosted on various P2P networks. And, just like it has always been, there will be risks in downloading warez, and consequences for doing so.
