If you're playing single-player, shouldn't be a problem.
But say you're multi-playing with 4 people, each with their own favorite pack- could the game render in 4 different packs at once for each player, or would it render just the pack the host is using for everybody? Probably the latter, so now the others are ticked/confused. Certainly it would only use one pack when playing split-screen.
Personally, except for some of the HD packs (which we don't know the xbox can handle), I've never seen a texture pack that's better than the default one. "Different", but not better. Staying with the default one is best all the way around.
All I'm have been waiting for is the day 4J announce they are working, or releasing a texture pack(s). For all I care, 1.2.3 can wait. We've had four skin packs, give us a bloody texture pack already. The vanilla textures are boring & bland. That's why I never play Minecraft on the PC without my LB photo realism.

Yeah, & the exact same thing can be said about skin packs...
I personally prefer the vanilla skin pack to any other skin pack. Though I have seen some great builds utilizing the texture's that they're using. But for a good all around texture I still think the default one is best.

The way I see it working is if on the same system probably will be the host's texture pack. On separate system would be what ever they chose to have.
I wouldn't mind having the option to mix n match parts of it with the original. I love the original textures especially now. Hopefully though they do not decide to change the gravel texture to that gawdy iron looking grill type texture in the next update, as I really do not like that one. Beyond that I rather enjoy the one we have.
For me though if I was to choose a theme I would say what Dokucraft is about, the old RPG game style look. As that would be nice, although even in those i know some could be done better. I'll probably stick with the original in the end, unless of course they do have a mix N match type system going. Then it would be this and that I would use.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Usually I like the simpler versions of texture packs, that stay true to the default. But I can easily see it happening. Just look at how easy it is for players to make their own or install them
I really want a new texture pack, this one is getting really old. The cobblestone and wooden planks are too awkward to build with.( need a darker plank colour!)

free skins ftw lol. i just download all the trials and use whatever free skins they give you.

But sometimes when it comes to buildings I feel like we're missing out.
