Meh. Im hoping when we get our next xbox we'll get an increase in world size, Instead of pushing a 7 year old console over the edge an making it explode Id rather push a brand new console to the edge and then dance a merry jig there.
Personally Id rather them push to get the code as close to the current PC then when the new xbox hits get them worlds up.
Hell, Id pay for it again if they're able to triple the world size on the new xbox.
(edit because I kept refering to the new xbox as the new 360)
I agree completely... and I think there is little doubt that the world size will increase significantly when the game is programmed to run on a significantly more powerful XBox. The sky's the limit!... or maybe even there will be no sky limit!
and infinite worlds size cannot be solved with dedicated servers
if you want bigger worlds get the pc version !!
It could solve the problem. It would just work like PC Multiplayer where the chunks are sent over the internet. The thing is running servers are very expensive.
P.S. i like the xbox version better than the pc, mostly because 5 fps does'nt really work for PC Gaming.
I am used to the world size, it is not bad at all. My only gripe is you start a world, it looks cool at first so you start your survival experience. Go for a few in game days and decide you want to explore more. Then you find out 3/4 your world is water and get angry and stop playing. That is my only gripe because you simply can not go find new land. You have to start a new one and PRAY you get some decent land.
And yes, I know about seeds. I hate playing somewhere that somebody else has played. I want my own personal land.

Exactly they won't run the servers off Xbox 360s
They'll have expensive computers running a few servers open for the public or friends if you rent an put on private.
Maybe you could set up your own server off your PC to run on the console if you downloaded the code and stuff.
And no one can suggest that if we want a better experience to play the PC version as we don't have builds that can run it any good.
I am CONVINCED that with servers we can handle bigger worlds and more players.

Of course, you could start your own seed in creative mode, take a quick fly over it to make sure it's mostly decent land, then exit. Delete that world and then create it again in survival mode and start playing.

Yep, done it a bunch. I don't like to do that though, then you know what your going to be wandering on and it kills the exploration fun.
but thats kinda my point, do you know 200 trusty players on the 360 that play MC ?
and tbh the worlds sizes we got havnt the area for 200 players...or even 16 like your asking
i just dont like the idea of having to join someone elses server to play online unless i pay to host my own up server
You are missing the point, there sever's would be infinite generation, and if you don't want play on a deciated server you don't have too. You could just host your limited world with the 8 player limit, and it would be free. The deticated server hosting would be for hardcore mincraft players. What i'm trying to say here, is too add deicated servers to the game, but still have the multiplayer from before.

The servers wouldn't be able to gnenerate the same seemingly infinite terrain like the PC. It would still be restricted by the Xbox 360's RAM, but the worlds would definitely get bigger.

Yay they would, the xbox ram's is not a problem. The chunks would be streamed to the xbox, and saved to the cache, when you move to a new area, more chunks and streamed over to the xbox. Then the old chunks are deleted from the cache, which frees up the ram. You got to remember that it would not be the owner's xbox hosting the server, but actual servers in a data center. These servers would have gigabytes of ram, and would do all the work for the xbox. Problem solved.
I wish M$ would of made the Xbox 360 easier to open up and just swap out RAM. As in, not frowned upon by M$ execs. Of course they could not allow the Xbox to be more like a Pc, there is less money in that.
The only realistic option to increase worldsize to infinitive is by 4J creating some sort of portal that links to another savegame.
Not a fan of dedicated servers at all.
Then don't play on the dedicated servers...
Linking worlds with portals would also be limited as you can only have a number of saved games, but its still a good idea.
Dedicated servers are easily the best option here and I really hope 4J adds them at some point, maybe with 1.2.3?
Has 4J ever mentioned dedicated servers?

IMHO I think the world sizes are ok as they are atm. Yeah, it would be nice to have them bigger in the future when there are more things to do in the game etc etc. But, hey ho, we have what we have. No need for another world size thread. It's not going to change anything. I gaurantee that when jungles come out, someone starts a thread saying that they're not 'tall' enough, or summit.

If you want bigger worlds etc, then go play MCPC.
Not as easy as going and playing PC maybe we don't own one?
Im actually using my iPad ATM our families desktop can barely run the Internet anymore what are the chances of that running minecraft?
The world sizes are fine for one player I agree but I do want to play on dedicated servers and meet new people.
I bet this game would be more enjoyable with a bigger world. Unless they want players to migrate to PC after getting a taste for it on Xbox since this game is interesting.
How come it can't be like Castle Miner Z's world size?

Agreed with the PC part. I have a laptop and a PC. Both I built myself. The laptop, which I'm using now is reeaaallly slow. The PC is faster, and could probably run MC, but I prefer my xbox.
One question: Are you going to buy the new xbox when it comes out? If so, that'll be like £250 at least ($300?). You can get a decent PC for that amount. So nobody that is going to buy the new xbox can say they can't afford a PC.
As for meeting new ppl etc. You are on a MC forum. With people who play MCXBLA. If you really want to meet new ppl to play with, then surely you can find them on here? I would love to play with new ppl. (GT:Ragnarock1982, if anyone wants to play. Lol)
Mostly because Minecraft is far more complex than CastleMiner Z.
This man speaks the truth. Minecraft has to worry about passive mobs AI, enemies AI, crops growing, clouds position, day and night cycles, a ton of different ores and blocks, caves, dungeons, water, lava, weather, lighting and all that. Don't forget we have crafting, we can make a lot of items and the game also remembers every block you place, like chests, pistons, you know. The reason some MC want to be games have such large worlds is because they aren't worrying about all of the little things minecraft has to consider. Believe me if minecraft had none of that, it would have bigger worlds.

To say I can't afford a Good PC would be a lie.
I could probably run it OK on my brothers laptop but he won't let me get anymore games on that...
And if I was buying a PC I would want something decent that can play Arma 3 and dayZ maxed out etc.
I'm a bit of a dreamer but how much would a PC cost that could run those games well?
