See I get the point of Minecraft.... Creating and Exploring.
So why won't I leave my pre 1.8.2 world and just dig into newer deeper caves,
explore library filled strongholds and fight to avoid
the poisonous touch of cave spiders?
Well I love my pre 1.8.2 world!!!
The problem is, is that after the update my
world showed "signs of age" framerate lag, piston issues and other annoyances.
On a previous thread I was told the likely
culprit is "old save file trying to exist in a newly updated game, Equals problems!"
( He was alot more eloquent in his explanation )
Another suggested the bug fix might resolve this... it didn't, actually seems made
it worse. Created mob spawners high in the sky appear to no longer exist..though
about a minute of standing there they begin to render.
Seems the "old save file" theory makes sense. I tried to
recreate machines in a new world and then just put a bunch of random pistons doing random things
all going at once and even then, the world seemed to handle it pretty well... beautifully even.
I tried coming in fast from a distance on a rail and a structure i built in the
sky could be seen from a distance as I approached, with barely any rendering problems...(plus
the pistons still all going)
So which leads me to one conclusion... Stay in the world im in now...
Why? Well because an all powerful update will come that will fix it all or
each update is likely to mess with a world made previous to that update, which if
that's the case why bothering leaving the world im in now if they all
will inevitably end like my first? A vicious cycle!!
.... Hmm what do you guys think? Live a Nomad's life or stay put?

I tend to start a new world with every update. You can rebuild everything you built in the last world, usually much quicker at that, because there is no trial and error. Plus, you'll be able to build those things better because of the experience you have from your last world! So I would give starting a new world a shot and if you decide its not for you, your old world will still be there to go back to.
you can have multiple world and even multiple backups of minecraft. at the moment i currently have most .minecraft files backed up on my harddrive. there is over 100 of them and they are pretty big but i have atleast 5 .minecraft files for ever release of minecraft minus the snapshots but including the 1.9 snapshots since beta 1.2
i do have many many world files and i like them all. just because you put it in storage does not mean you will never use it again. i simply put them away and forget about them until one day i decide it would be fun to reflect on the old minecraft worlds.
I actually had my worlds become corrupt with the update so on a whim yesterday I loaded up my 1.7.3 survival world and it works 100% back to normal. I had the sign lag issue where it crashed the game in creative/survival. Well put the signs back up and it is still completely fine. So the bug fix fixed that world and its crashing.
So do what ya wanna do man. Stay on your 1.7.3 world and continue to build awesome stuff on said world or move on and start from a clean slate. I am on my 1.8.2 survival world now and will probably stay on this one. Move on and be proud of what ya build.
There will never be an all powerful update to fix it all.
The shifting biomes in old worlds will never be fixed. It happened on the PC and it has now happened on the Xbox 360. It's just what happens on older worlds when the biome code changes.

Nomad baby! For some reason I enjoy the struggle of the first few nights. Call me crazy.

Retired StaffYou're crazy.
I work and struggle enough in the real world. When I'm playing Minecraft, I want everything handed to me.
Anyway, moving to a new world is my recommendation. New experiences are always fun! Plus you'll have more space and see better performance.
