I was just thinking about what would happen sooner or later in your survival world. And it occurred to me, eventually, you will run out or resources in your world. On the PC version, every block is infinite because the world is virtually infinite. (With the exception of End Stone, Mossy Stone Bricks and Cracked Stone Bricks. Only because there are only 3 Strongholds per world, I still think there should be infinite.) The only infinite types of blocks you have in the Xbox version are, Wood, Wool, Cobblestone, Leaves and Water. Other then that. Your world will run dry sooner or later. Do you consider this a problem? And what could fix this?
Another thread regarding world size! Theres been many (too many) about this before, and I think some of them discussed how many blocks there actually are in the 'limited' Minecraft Xbox360 Edition worlds, so many infact that it would probably take a good amount of years before you could say you've completely 'run day' of resources!
I can't remember the exact numbers, but I have seen stuff on YouTube and posts on here too I think, that say how much iron, gold, diamonds, etc you can roughly find in each world, but in order to find every single one, you'd probably have to dig up every inch (or block) of your world to do so, which when you think about it sounds like a very long and life-wasting process xD
Sure, it might not be 'infinite' like the PC version (or close enough anyway) but theres still enough blocks per world on the Xbox360 to ever be able to completely run out of resources, and I think it would take a crazy person to actually achieve some feat like that!
btw, I think Stone could be classed as 'infinite' too, since you can smelt the Cobblestone into it
Exactly how many reasirces are in the world? Could I have a link?
actually on the pc there are transmutation machines to make the mossy and cracked variations far as I know, and they still work, well certain ones. So those are infinite as well for the most part. Right now though on the xbox edition you could say the same at the moment.
As far as me actually running out of resources, I'd say highly unlikely. That would take me years possibly... As it takes time to build and mine the stuff when not in creative.
I would say in the 10,000s for quite a few, unfortunately I don't have a link. I am only basing it off of someone else's math and they had the % of what each does. This has been talked about before after all.
I am happy building to my hearts content...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I worked it out the other day actually. With the current xbox world size, there are over 48 million blocks in an average world. Not including any huge mountains.
48m blocks. Taking on average a second to destroy: 48 million seconds or 800,000.00 minutes, or 13,333.00 hours, or 555.55 days, and that's playing 24 hours a day, without taking a break, constantly mining. Impossible to run out of stuff to break.
As for resources. As above, it states 16000 + diamonds. They take a while to knock out. Not even gonna bother to work it out tbh. Lol
Why would this be a problem in a game mode that is allegedly about "survival?" Survival means making do with what you've got - managing limited resources to maximum effectiveness. If you have unlimited resources, survival is not in question. It becomes just a slower version of creative mode with mining.

Well said. Surviving is the gritty, dirty act of adapting, improvising, and overcoming. I totally second UpUp_Away95. *Patiently waits for hardcore*
I prefer the smaller world actually, you can get much more intemate with it. Learning where everything is building in epic spots and having a mend and make do attitude. Instead of using sticky pistons sometimes I use gravity based solutions or try to find the cheapest way of doing things. Unless you are trying for a mega build purely out of mining recourses I would not worry.
Just thinking about this 'world size' issue in general, I think the problem people have is with how much surface land is there available to explore and venture out to, rather than looking at the WHOLE world size in terms of how far down underground it goes too!
Its like, if worlds consisted of maybe only 10-20+ layers (or more) underground and were in turn maybe larger in overall dimensions on the surface, then people would have more land to explore. However, that would cut off having anything underground if there wasn't much down there to explore in the first place, which would in turn result in people complaining about the lack of underground world size, I would imagine anyway...
The thing is new terrain to explore is always just a click away - just start a new world and start exploring. Their problem seems to be tha they don't want to explore without taking their diamond armour, diamond pickaxe and diamond sword with them.
The only thing that I would want a larger world for would be for more glow stone slince there is harly any as.it is now... Much less if orwhen lamps are introduced
I have been saying for months that world size is going to matter, but the problem is the bigger the world the more lag and supposedly the XBOX doesnt have enough RAM. I say supposedly since I am a tech guy and I still think there are ways around that.

There are ways around it, but not any which support smooth drop-in split-screen multiplayer. This is a major selling point which separates MCXBLA from the other editions of Minecraft. How do you think MCPC can handle such large worlds without requiring a ridiculous gaming rig that has 128 GB of RAM? They have no significant reason to keep all chunks available in the on-board memory, they actively load and unload. In the XBLA version, all chunks are kept partially loaded in RAM, and it allows for a second player to join with the press of a button, no loading screens necessary. It also brings forth benefits in long-distance data transfer, through the use of redstone.

Also, Stone goes into the cobblestone category.

The only reason stated for increasing the world size is running out of resources… "eventually".
Not gonna happen.
Now what's the real reason?

More area, above ground, to explore!
