Just got an idea that hit one day about clans on Minecraft for the Xbox 360 Edition. Make a worldthat consists of your teams base and another teams base with the same gear (So it's fair) and they have various objectives to win the "war", like burn down crops, houses, bomb the place, ect. I'm a fan of war movies and shows like Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Valkyrie, ect. and thought this would be a cool idea! But there's one problem for some groups/clans: uniforms! Until 4J Studios lets us make our own skins, we gotta wait :(Anyways, hope you guys like the idea or, if not, get around to the idea because you guys think there's gonna be trash-talkers. I'm not gonna lie, but I think that too :/ Anyways, post some suggestions and/or ideas to improve this idea with what you think you could include.
I think it's somewhat of a cool idea, but there's a bit of a practicality behind what you're suggesting. Maybe something more like there's a portal in every world, and you could challenge another clan and then that portal would be the hub?
In essence though, that's really taking away from what minecraft is. All of the modifcations that you see on PC are just that, modifications. If they were a part of minecraft itself then I'm sure it would probably be included

Mods would be cool for the Xbox version, hopefully they add that later on... along with people able to make their own skins! And thank you for your feedback because all ideas are welcome to this thread. Having different objectives like the game Chivalry from Steam would be cool but everyone either has the same ideas or different and if they start a clan/gang/group they can add what they want
Being part of this community I don't like the idea to much.
Closest i wanna be to a minecraft clan is a Time lapse team.
I think that would be a cool clan.
All you're doing is describing a bunch of other games that's already out there, and they do it a lot better than MC ever could.
As Rogue said, "In essence though, that's really taking away from what minecraft is."
Actually I was going to keep it on the down low (mainly because I'm building the whole thing myself) but I'm in the processs of building a redstone powered team based PVP objective map. Basically I have a spawn platform explaining the rules (can't break or place blocks except for breaking enemy redstone torchs can't craft, must play on at least easy etc...)
There are two large castles and a battlefield in-between, they are surrounded by impassable mountains, so players can't escape. Basically you have to knock out all the enemy teams redstone torches. The catch is that besides the enemy team trying to kill you, each torch has it's own challenge to overcome. The first is skill based you will have to shoot minecarts to reveal the enemy torch, breaking it allows the castle gate to lift allowing access to the rest of the torches, another one includes parkouring up a broken tower, another is located in the dungeon protected by hostile mobs (pretty much a mob grinder dark room), etc...
Not only that but destroying an enemy torch also grants your team a bonus in the form of adding obstacles to your torches or giving your team say a golden apple or better weapons for a respawn. Speaking of which one of the things I'm proud of is the spawn rooms I made each player. Everyone sleeps before the game starts, also located in there are 4 buttons for different classes (all balanced) selecting one will deactivate the others via RS-NOR latch arrays. After sleeping and selecting a class (players continue on to the next room through an iron door and a pressure pad. Once in this room they are stuck by another iron door (at the match start) until everyone playing pushes the ready button which is connected to an RS-NOR latch which goes to an AND gate which then opens everyones door. In the next room they get their gear from the class chest they selected (the other chests become hidden an unavailable. Once geared up they head to the exit drop, where they push a button which resets their class choice and drops them into a tube where they can select a couple of places to drop into their castle. I have a pressure pad setup that when they drop down, I have it timed out so there is a water source above a piston when they hit the pad and fall the piston retracts effectively making a safe drop point. A second or two later the piston pops up allowing an easy exit.
On top of this I have each torch connected to an easy to see health bar above each base so it makes it easy to see which torches are left. When all your torches are gone the health bar sends a signal destroying the losing teams spawn effectively ending the game. Not only that but I have added an area which only becomes available when one team is defeated. The winning team can then enter and receive their reward...but that's a secret for when I finish the map I will be makInv a Mega post tonight with pictures more detail and updates. Check it out if this sounds interesting to you. This map idea and mechanics have taken me awhile to figure out. Infact I was down right stumped for some but thankfully Nosejob_For_A_Cowboy helped me out and set me on the right track.

Wooooo, name drops! xD By the way, it sounds awesome. Sounds like the project has came a long way since we last spoke. I'll be looking out for that thread tonight.
Back on topic: I honestly think clans are a great idea, as long as they have a theme. I personally wouldn't join a PVP-based clan, but it's not a bad idea. Most members in this section of the forum are completely against clans. They're console gamers, and too young to know what a clan actually is, they think it's only a competitive team, such as in CoD. On the other hand, this same group is too old to think that's a good idea in Minecraft.
If you try to start this clan, don't be surprised when the responses are all from 12 year olds.

I think rushzer0 has acool idea, keep working!
And cowboy, I like how you brought up the 12 year olds because I completely agree. I'm not gonna lie but I'm 14 and kids just need to understand the clans in CoD don't kill people, they kill brain cells. Other themed are awesome ideas! I've been a huge fan of Post-Apocalyptic games, books, ect. and personally, I'd make that as a gang. And I like to use my brain a lot so I'm not gonna call them clans because, in short, clans are pretty much families. For example, mafias. They can be counted as a clan. So gang is the word I'd use. Anyways, as I was saying before, Minecraft can be played as anything, like obstical courses, roleplaying, PVP, ect. and GANGS would be a fun way just to meet other gangs/people, blow off steam, and even make friends over Xbox. I've never actually played the PC version but I also heard they have gangs on it.
And thanks you guys for giving your support and ideas!

Team, gang, guild, group, and clan are all labels used interchangeably around here. From past experience with RPG's, the way I understand it is clans are PVP-based and guilds are peaceful non-warring folks. I guess a gang would be similar to a PVP clan, I consider the rest to be generic terms for a collection of like-minded people.
I was asked to join a clan once.
He sounded about 12 an wanted me to change my gamer tag to be in his clan.
I'm very happy with my name... Why would I change it?
The next clan I was really a part of was a platoon in BF3 they often have their own server up and a party for people they're playing with.
But I don't usually join their party as I find myself a bit socially awkward. And there's about 7 or more years age difference which doesn't help.
From my experience though clans don't usually mean much more than a label.
Unless there's very involved clan leaders of coarse.
