No, this is not complaints about Xbox not having End Portals.
I started a new survival map on Normal difficulty the other day. I went about doing my business when the Minecraft day started. I checked my surroundings and my wheat was trampled, and some dirt was missing, obviously an enderman WAS there, it seemed to be gone. Anyway, I crafted a boat and exited my shelter when I see the Enderman. It was daytime, and I could have swore that I read that Enderman are passive during the day and will teleport AWAY if provoked. So, I casually killed it with a sword, but It managed to hit me and do damage. Ok, that was a bit of a mouthful, but I'm sure you get what I'm saying.
Enderman are neutral at night and if provoked will attack, that I know.
BUT, during daytime, how do Enderman react? Will they only hit you if YOU hit them? Will they hit you if you look at them in a provoking way?
It's probably a stupid question, but if someone could answer, thanks. I was on Normal difficulty if that helps.
They act as they would at night.
Their behaviour does not change in the daytime.
You may have been thinking of spiders?
Spiders are passive in the light of day and aggressive at night or underground.
From Minecraft Wiki: "Endermen become passive during daytime, teleporting away from the player rather than attacking, so Endermen become relatively harmless while on the surface during the day. However, Endermen are quick to retreat underground at dawn, so you are unlikely to see one aboveground."
Either this is a lie or for the PC Version, thank you everyone.
Endermen are not actually 'passive' during daytime, you could consider it badly worded on the wiki. Endermen don't often teleport for no reason at night. They teleport very randomly, if looked at or when they take damage. During daytime, however, as long as they are in an area with Blocklight 15 (direct sunlight), they will teleport constantly until they find a cave or another underground area without sunlight. That's the only difference between endermen at day and night. They could be considered passive because they don't attack unless provoked, like wolves. The difference is that wolves don't actually mind getting looked at.
Thank you, that cleared up everything greatly.

That being said Ive noticed them teleporting almost constantly during the day.

True, however most of the stuff I find on there is pretty accurate...but yeah...
Thank you, that cleared up everything greatly.
