when minecraft was still at 1.7 when ever we went to bedrock we could see fine if we put up enogh tourchs every few feet but now that we are in 1.8 no matter how many tourchs we put up we can't see past the 5th block (it all starts going black at the 3rd block) we tired putting up a tourch on every block and even that don't help and we even turned the gama all the way up and still nothing (plus we have run into a bug where the wall of a house in a village was invisible and if you tried to walk into the house thru that wall you got hurt)
At first I thought this thread was about some problem regarding bedrock level itself, but then I saw it was another thread about the void fog!
But yeah, this was added as of the 1.8.2 update, and from what I've seen in other threads about this, there will be a void fog toggle added in the next bugfix update!
Bah, beat me to it. But, yes, he is correct. I cannot WAIT for the toggle!
Above level 12, it's not an issue at all. In fact, above level 5, I'd say it's not even a factor unless you have an underground gymnasium (I've a few). When you are above roughly level 12, you can look down at lower areas and see clearly. I have a few HUGE underground canyons that get hard to see near the bottom but are magnificent viewed from up the wall aways.
I don't mind the void fog because as has been stated, it adds an element of drama near the bottom of the map that was lacking
