I believe the world size is 1000x1000 right now (correct me if I am wrong). In my opinion that world size is wayyy to small to actually play Minecraft in. I think we deserve a bigger world if the computer has an infinite world (yes I know that the xbox doesn't have the computing power/ memory of a computer).
Maybe there could be an option to choose how large your world is.
For example: 500mb = a 2000x2000 world (dont know if that is enough to support it, but its an example).
1gb = 3000x3000
2gb = 4000x4000
etc.
However, the fly in the ointment is that XBox 360s (whether an older or newer model) all have essentially the same processing power and 512 MB of RAM. Therefore, everyone would have to choose the same world size anyway Also, since you're not a programmer, how do you know that the current 1026 x 1026 (which includes the nether) is not the absolute maximum that the 512 MB of RAM the XBox has can handle, rather than the alleged 2,000 x 2,000 you're proposing? 4J said some time ago that they liked the idea of larger worlds and were looking into increasing world size. Paddy Burns then later said in an interview that they couldn't do it because the XBox lacked the capacity to handle it (along with everything else the game demands in the way of processing). Do you know something they don't?
The Xbox is a heap of junk, I thinks it's about 7 years old or something...Technology has moved on so much in the last 7 years.
No real argument from me there. It wasn't always old tech, but now it's getting rather old and tired... just like me. I've recently read somewhere that Microsoft figures it should be good to 2015. Me, I'm not sure it'll still be functional that long. Ironically, the laptop I'm using to type this post on is nearly as old. I doubt it would even download Minecraft PC... well maybe by 2015 if I started tonight.
are we still going on about world size, there must be 1000's of post covering this topic, and they all say the same, the xbox cannot support world sizes any bigger than what we got, if they could do you not think 4J would have implemented it ??
my PC has 16 GB of RAM, my xbox has 512 MB, in other words my pc has 30 times as much RAM, the xbox is old, vintage old in technology terms and just cannot cope with big world sizes, we got what we got and where stuck with it, end off !!
BTW the pc worlds are not infinite !!
This is all true. However, at 32,000,000x32,000,000 it's really close enough. Lol
I think they just need to bring out Minecraft in 3D already, that would be amazing. The world doesn't need to be any bigger on the Xbox, they just need to fill the land we do have with more sheep. I feel that is a pretty simple thing to do but the fact that 4J have not done this turns into a massive inconvenience and frankly it is starting to effect my ting capacity. How can I in peace, stressing about the fact that I have to walk around for hours looking for a potential bed considering spiders scare me and I don't want their string anyway I just want sheep (Not in a New Zealander type of way).
It should be released in christmas 2013, There is no way in hell that Microsoft will sit back and let sony steal all of their customers when the PS4 gets released...I might even switch to playstation, I hate paying for live on top of my internet bill.
Hmm it makes me wonder, if theres an 'Xbox720' (or whatever it'll be called) released in the near future as the 'next-next-gen' of console gaming, then I wonder if Minecraft Xbox360 Edition will get updated to be on the new console, and then have much more power/performance to have larger worlds! That's assuming the next console will be more powerful than the Xbox360, which I'm guessing it most likely will be (obviously) haha!
Then most of the 360 games probobly wont be back compatable, and they will go in a box with all the xbox games that don't work on 360. Rather my old games sit in a box than Gamestop bending me over for a few bucks.
... and how advanced was it when you bought it in 2004? Have you upgraded any of the individual cards since then? What operating system are you using? How much is running in the background? There is such a wide variety of PCs out there, that its just not the even a comparable concept with the XBox... where the basic guts are all the same and have been since the system first came out. Your 2004 PC is probably a world different than my old laptop, which might even be the same age or just a year newer. My one son is still using a desktop from that era; but about the only thing that's original on it now is the case.
On the XBox, you can't just go in and upgrade the video card or add some RAM, like you can on a PC. That's why the OPs proposition of being able to select a world size based on RAM essentially makes no sense for the XBox version. All the XBox's are essentially the same in the RAM and processing power that they have and everyone would have to select the same size of world anyway. It doesn't matter whether they are the older white boxes or the new slims. Microsoft didn't add a whole bunch of processing power to the newer 360 models. They essentially added a more efficient cooling system, Wifi and Kinect.
So, why bother to program an essentially useless option to select world size based on differences in RAM when there are no differences in RAM?... yet. I could see this sort of thing happening IF the XBox 720 comes out and they opt to make the 720 version of Minecraft still usable on the 360. That may or may not happen... depends on whether the companies involved at that time think it would be profitable for them to bother with it. It's still more than a year away at minimum... so I don't really think it's worth speculating much over it now.
Yeah so can my laptop, but does it run smoothly at the base product when it was bought. Mine runs ok with mincraft pc, but still lags quiet a bit. Not to mention the overheating problems, having to have an ac run across it or a fan is the only way i can even play some of the graphical intense games. This one being the least bit of that in comparison to what Dungeons does to my laptop.
I actually don't mind the world size of the xbox as it is enough for me to take years to develop on if I have the chance to, with all the updates and all that happen every so often...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
i know pepole who have modded xbox no added ram and can easy run pc version on them even with big worlds and texture packs
And how would someone get the PC version to run on the xbox? This point makes no use to the argument anyway. Dishing out added money for a modded xbox is useless when you can just get a decent PC and just play MC on there.
But all my research says you can not run PC games on xbox. Different chips, etc. Any PC game would require a complete rewrite in order to work on the xbox OR you'd have to replace some of the xbox guts- and then it wouldn't be an xbox anymore, would it?
What would be the point, anyway?
Back on topic, why do you need a bigger world option?
Can't you just start another world if you want to build or explore more????
next question is, Minecraft comes for XBOX 720? Or Microsoft contract extension for Minecraft for XBOX 720? and Notch paint a Sheep for XBOX peoples?
Microsoft hasn't even announced the XBox 720, so how would anyone know whether or not Minecraft for 720 will even exist. That's why I said "IF the XBox 720 comes out..." Some people are saying by Christmas 2013; but if it's that close, shouldn't there already be contracts out there to write some games to go along with the release? Of course, I susppose the contracts could exist; but the parties to them might just be sworn to absolute secrecy.

This means that if they were to make a complete copy of minecraft pc, maybe with few tweaks, xboxes could run it fine and world size has nothing to do with it.
Lets face it. World size is one of the biggest issues facing minecraft xbox 360. They should make it the main focus of the next major update and screw the 1.2.3 stuff.

I'd much rather have Enchanting, Breeding, The End, Ender Dragon, Nether Fortresses, Blazes, Jungles, Mushrooms Biome, Brewing, etc than have to wait for it. They need to do what they're doing now. Update all the way to 1.2.3, then go and do other things.

I always look forward to anything this man has to say for some reason....

Anybody else think this is a good idea?
if you go to the edge of your map it should say some thing like 431 you cant build there you can go there.
I pretty much built every were at 37MB I dont see the need for a 500MB File

My 2004 PC can handle MineCraft easily

It may be possible to run xbox games on a PC using Windows 8 through Live:

It's also possible to find emulators to run xbox games on your PC, but they barely work (aren't near as good as the real thing), or are simply a virus.
