"The Resident Evil concept has far beyond worn out its welcome. It simply won't even try to find a place of its own at this point. Now its getting collect calls, forwarding its mail and rubbing its **** against your silverware while you aren't looking." -- Zero Punctuation
Speaking of wearing out welcomes... I have a modest 25x25 castle surrounded by a lava moat with a piston bridge, and two iron doors closed in front of the only way in. And it's lit up like a lighthouse.
In theory, nothing should get in, right?
Well on the second floor there's an Enderman, in my kitchen, no less. Its bad enough that he's trespassing, but apparently he's gonna raid my fridge too.
So I whack him with my sword and he zips away into nothingness. Yeah, take that. GTFOutta my house.
But he came back like three times. I come upstairs and there he is, just kickin' around by my oven and food chests.
Is this a bug, or can Endermen teleport on multiple levels? And why the hell is he only appearing in my kitchen?
They can and will teleport into any space that is 3 blocks tall or taller. I've had two of them in my house. So far, however, I've only seen them carrying blocks of dirt or sand. Can anyone confirm seeing any of them carrying wood or stone blocks?
To get rid of them easily, I've gone to carrying a bucket of water around in the house and throw it down around my feet when they appear. They scram pretty fast when they get their feet wet.
They might be teleporting into your house due to the lava wall. It is a behavior, the tele when they near water/lava i believe, and where they tele varies. So being inside your castle isn't out of the question if like the person before me said is what your room height is.
2 blocks ensures that they won't tele in unexpected. At least you haven't any other visiters..:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Make your rooms 2.5 blocks high. (Blocks and slabs). I find that 2 blocks high looks too small, but the added slab looks ok. Stops them coming in aswel.
They teleport into my underground bunker on a buddies world every time I play. The main rooms are 4 high while the extending rooms out of the bunker are 8 high.
I let em roam until I get annoyed by the sounds, then they die in a none glorious fashion. Almost like a bleeting sheep sound when they die too, funny stuff.
Maybe he's hungry? There's a lot of enderperson to feed with them.
Anyways! I tend to use the water bucket method to deal with them, you could also put a layer of glass up on the ceiling, lowers the space without making you feel too crammed in there, though it does remove your ability to jump really.. I would say throwing water on them is your best bet, or name him and call him your housemate.
"Only the trees which you know are not trees for food you may destroy and cut down, to build siegeworks against the city that makes war with you, until it is subdued." (Deuteronomy 20:20 NKJV)
Have you taken it off peaceful, and made your rooms big enough? Saying that. I don't think I've ever had them in my house either. Maybe they don't like the decor.
first off endermen will spawn if your far enough away and if its dark enough. if they take damage from water they will teleport. if you attack them they will teleport. if you throw anything at them, ex egg, arrow, potion, dispenser, babies and anything else of that sort will make them teleport. they can teleport 32 blocks in any direction and if it rains expect to have a endermen rave party in your kitchen.

I've seen a few of them walking around with a block of cacti or cactus but other than that it has been all dirt and sand. I noticed some of my chickens got out and came to realize the enderman took a piece of dirt under a fence post. That SOB!
[me] wonders if it's possible to ignite the TNT while they are carrying it..... [evil grin]
I was wondering that too once i saw they can carry tnt. What happens if the enderman set it down next to a red torch? Prob a lot of WTF happened here. It was either Herobrat or a griefer. Nope it was just a sneaky **** enderman.

Thanks for the heads up... Tonight's task - changing all the dirt blocks under the fence posts around the chicken coop to wood. Those SOBs... Then, of course, they'll probably just stack up dirt blocks on the inside the the chicken coop... I HATE endermen!!

I'm sensing a challenge coming on here. Superflat world stripped of dirt with a big block of TNT and randomly spaced redstone torches everywhere.
Okay, enderman, you picked it up, now where are you going to put it?

No, you can't. You can't interact with the block that Endermen are carrying. Endermen also will not pick up primed TNT because it counts as an entity, which they cannot manipulate, when it is triggered.
My six-year-old niece calls the endermen "undermen" and had me build her a home for them in her seed. She thinks they are the coolest thing ever made. Haha.
On a another note, use Jack O'Lanterns for light, whether it's sitting on the floor, in the floor, in the walls, whatever. I don't know why, but endermen seem to never come in my houses when i use Jack O'Lanterns for light.

You can give your coop a "roof" that leaves it two blocks tall. I usually use slabs (wood, stone, etc.). After all, what does a chicken-duck need with the extra height? ;-)

(We don't have Mycelium yet obviously)
