So my favorite seed is not popular and does not have a lot of diamonds now. The map is full of god damn ocean and only got i think 3 or 4 islands. What happened?
Seriously though, there are not many 1.7.3 seeds that work with 1.8.2 that give you even roughly similar things in it. I've only found a couple so far that are that way of all the old ones I use. 10110101 is similar to the old one, but not exactly the same.... That is one of the ones I use. So it is best to look through the new seed thread to find a new one if you wanted to do a new map.

Every seed has a lot of diamonds. On average, every single world you generate will have roughly around 16,000 diamonds on it. Seeds do not directly effect the amount of ores in a world.
Nah, not really. All worlds have a ridiculous amount of resources. One seed may have 10 or 20 more diamonds than another, but who cares? It's not like you'll ever use up the thousands of diamonds that will come before those last 20. Well, you might... if you really love branch mining and play on the same world for a couple years.
Much of the terrain generation is different between 1.7.3 and now. Hence why the old seeds thread stopped updating. If I remember correctly I think spud was making a new one? Not sure on that one
