I do grow bored with just building things in Minecraft and I'm sure that I'm not only one of a few who feel this way. The game was much more interesting in the beginning, before I started building these massive projects. I enjoyed building things for creative and practical purposes alike, in a world that's not so "peaceful". IMO, creative mode sort of waters the game down and peaceful just wussifies it. I understand that all of these things are simply optional and I get that. I was only trying to say that I'd like to see some improvement in survival, so that I do not feel pushed into building in creative. I love the game guys. It's all that I've played in months. Just making some suggestions. Sorry about thew wall. I did try to fix it.
Everyone has their own way of playing the game. But creative mode certainly doesn't dilute the gameplay. It allows you to be... well... creative! The whole purpose is building whatever you want without worrying about hunger, mobs, mining, and all that other survival stuff. Some people like survival, and that's fine, more power to them. Then others, like myself, become bored with survival aspect after a couple hours and just want to build something. I just don't understand how people can become bored with this game. For months now I've only been doing one thing in Minecraft, and that's playing with redstone. That's literally all I do when I play this game and I still haven't ran out of ideas for future projects. I talk to other redstone engineers just like me who've been doing the exact same thing I'm doing for a couple years now. If one aspect of this game is that addictive, how can people become completely bored with the entire game?
I still play nothing but survival, probably will for years to come. Mostly on Hard mode, but with large scale outdoor builds and growing frustration with creepers, I’ll switch it to peaceful. I think it would be very interesting to see more developed on the survivial aspect.
This game is truly awesome, but for me that awesomeness ends, when the consequences do.
Which is why I’ll have nothing to do with the newly added creative mode.
It's like taking minecraft and pushing it into an industrial area full of machines. all of which you make yourself obviously. You essetually create things with not only the ores in the game but a mass amount of extra materials in which can create very scientifical things, cush as a quarry, or a nuclear bomb. Stuff like that. I think I summed it up alright
Don't forget TNT carts. You send your friend a little "present" while they are in their mine shaft.
If you do not enjoy how Creative mode washes the game down, then don't use it. If you think Peaceful mode wussifies it, play Hard. If you want jet packs, go buy PC Minecraft, learn Java and make a jet pack mod. The MC360 version of Minecraft follows the PC version of Minecraft in development. Meaning it will never stray the course of the true vanilla Minecraft, meaning no Tekkit stuff. And to automate stuff in MC, learn Redstone. I have multiple BUD detectors for my farms in MC360, fully functioning subway, etc.
TL;DR:
Don't complain about things that you don't like if you can disable them/change it in the options.
There will be no industrial stuff or futuristic stuff. It's Minecraft.
Learn Redstone.

I think we're actually on the same page here, for the most part. I haven't grown bored with the game really. It's all that I've been playing lately, myself. I have a lot of fun just building whatever I want in creative. I just wish that there was more to see and do in survival, and that acquiring mass amounts of materials wasn't such a hassle. But I am not ing about Minecraft per see. I'm a big supporter.

This isn't a complaint, it's a suggestion. I understand that it's all optional, but I'm talking about improving survival so that I might not get so frustrated with it, that I start building in creative. I have the PC version of the game, but I don't really enjoy gaming on my computer. Strictly xbox for me. I have a good grasp on redstone and I have built most of the farming systems that can be built, but that's not quite enough. I guess I'd like to see more improvement in this area.
I'm not knocking anyone for playing on creative mode, because I do myself. I'm sorry if I came off that way.

If you've ran out of ideas for contraptions... you're not into redstone. Just saying. Redstone is one of the things in Minecraft that will never be "mastered" by anyone. If you think you've built all there is to build, you aren't learning enough.
Then, if someone decides to go big with redstone, they might as well forget survival ever existed. Attempting a redstone megabuild with "legit" resources is just dumb.

No, I was referring to the fact there just isn't a way to farm every item. I never claimed to be a redstone master, but I have built most of the "known" farming systems. These are not things that I come up with myself, as I do not have that much time on my hands.
Also, I am not suggesting that they should eliminate creative mode. It clearly has its place. I don't think people should be forced to play survival just to build an epic map for a server or, per your example, a mega redstone build. I would just like more out of survival, because it makes the game more interesting imo.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. I was talking about the study of the mechanics itself, Redstone Theory. Along with the practice of recreating real-life mechanisms through redstone, which spans across many electrical, electronic, and mechanical genres. If you become bored with traditional gameplay, it's worth consideration. (If you're interested in electronics and such.)
Though I will admit, Tekkit-like features would be interesting to see in this port. It might even motivate me to play survival mode every once in awhile. Fully automated resource collection systems are just fun to build, and often not possible with redstone.

Easy there Nose_Job. I know you didn't just call me dumb in that last sentence. I only play survival, and yes I do have a chest and a half of redstone plus chests of torches and repeaters etc, that I will be using when I build my School of Redstone. So there
To the OP: I don't know man, I have mixed feeling about what your saying. On one hand, no I don't think they need to add a custom creative mode, just use what features you want. On the other hand, having the ability to create custom game modes using certain features only, sounds interesting. Especially for those that like to build pvp maps.

Okay, maybe not dumb... but definitely insane. And I hate to disappoint you, but you're not going to have much of a school with 1.5 chests of dust. When I started on my first large-scale build, (Not quite mega, it was my first calculator, only 6-bit.) I planned on building it legit, greatly underestimating how long it would take me to collect the resources. After gathering a chest full of dust, I only had enough material to complete the adders themselves and input latches with lines leading to the UI, which was only about 5-10% of the overall project, by size. At that point I learned how to dupe and was done with mining for life.
If you want a decent gallery, you'll either have to use creative mode, or dedicate probably a solid month to mining. This is just my opinion, but legit builds are more trouble than they're worth, especially when it comes to redstone.

You can farm almost every item that matters. Not everything in the game should be farmable. There needs to be things that are limited and finite. I'd say half, if not more of the items in the game can be farmed one way or another.

Very true that I don't have enough resources yet, but I know that. Yes, it will probably be a month before I even begin construction on the building. So I should be pretty well set on redstone related resources by then. Besides, above all else this just something I find fun, and the School of Redstone, or Gallery as you put it, just stuck with me as a neat idea. Besides, I need a good long term project till the next world changing update.
Lol besides that, I wont be needing the amount of resources per block that you gobble up in your builds
