After you've seen and done all that there really is to do, Survival swiftly becomes tedious and monotonousness. After a while, all that I was doing was grinding fore materials and then building with those materials. That's exactly the point that I was at, just before this last update, when creative mode became available. I haven't spent a minute in Survival since then. But this has got me to thinking. I'm not sure if this is a good thing.
I'd rather see things get a little more interesting, creatively, in survival mode. Things like making it so that mining could be done more effectively and that farming and industrial systems could be made to acquire large quantities of most materials. Perhaps you could eventually make a jet pack or somehting, so that you could have virtually the same swift approach to construction.
All of this lends itself much better to the other aspects of the game: exploration, adventure, survival, practical construction etc. Giving the game more purpose. They could essentially include a means of creating your own highly effective tool set. That way, you are still fully immersed in the adventure and atmosphere of the game, while not being stifled as much creatively.
Anyway, thanks for reading and I look forward to other insights on this topic.
AD:
I'm not suggesting that creative mode be removed from the game. That would be ridiculous. I'm only suggesting that survival should be beefed up enough so that people like myself, who would much prefer to build in survival, can stop using creative mode. Creative mode really takes away from the pride for me. I have more love for my survival builds. But survival can be a bit too limited and tedious. This could easily be dealt with and I think that most people would be happy about it.
Obviously, if you are out there making epic worlds and servers and massive redstone projects, then creative is a must. I'm not bashing anyone here.
China called... Yup, you guessed it... They want their wall back.
& It's fine the way it is.
Well I'm glad you think so. I don't think it's fine the way it is. Not by a damned sight. I enjoy it the way it is, but the game is in constant development for a reason.
I read the whole thing and did not understand a damn thing you said. It ran off the main topic so many times, I guarantee if it didn't this wall would not exist.
so some of what you're saying is that the powers of creative mode coult have been granted more as features of the survival mode?
like gathering the resources to make a jetpack so you can fly. making a machine to farm, so you can skip that part of the game.
Not bad ideas for survival mode, and some PC mods like Equivalent Exchange kind of do that end-game kind of stuff.
If you're right, then it's not a completely terrible idea. However, creative mode is meant to transcend any of that trouble altogether, and so I certainly wouldn't want that to replace the current system.
Well if you want something like that switch to PC and play Tekkit. Creative mode is great the way it is. Also enchanting is on the way and enchants such as efficiency 4-5 are pretty beast. So technically you can construct your own super tools to speed up resource gathering.
I read the whole thing and did not understand a damn thing you said. It ran off the main topic so many times, I guarantee if it didn't this wall would not exist.
Really? IS it really that tough to understand? And what the hell is this "wall" Â that you guys are on about?

In a nut shell, yes. You can already manipulate the game so that you can farm certain materials in Survival, but you should probably be able to set up various systems, that can produce large quantities of any item. I'm saying that I have more fun in survival mode and I would really like to be able to build more efficiently, in survival mode. I really don't think that you should be able to jump in and out of different modes so easily either, as it's just too tempting to do so and the game loses some lasting appeal because of this. But until it's a little less of a chore to get anything done in survival mode, I have no problem with the way things are at the moment.
2. I think you're one of the few people that would prefer a gamemode in between creative and survival. I haven't played survival the proper way since MCXBLA's release. I've never gotten bored of only building things. Throughout the rest of the time I'll spend playing this game I doubt I'll ever use survival mode, except for the occasional PVP match one of my friends happens to be hosting. Tons of ideas come to me for creative builds, and while constructing them I tend to produce more ideas. As far as creative projects go, I'm probably set for the next several years.
Wow, another "I want Tekkit" thread. Well done on trying to disguise it in a mass of text and re-phrasing though.
Never going to happen for soooo many reasons.
Never heard of it actually, but I'd appreciate it if you'd list some of the reasons. Remember, I'm talking about the 360 version.
Thanks for the info. Why should I use paragraphs when the tab button doesn't work when writing in forums? Other than that, I agree that it was pretty bad so I did a major overhaul and I think that it's a little more coherent now.
But Minecraft is obviously lacking as a "game". So after you've seen and done all that there really is to do, the game swiftly becomes tedious and monotonousness
I've never understood this argument. It can be applied to every video game ever created (except some MMOs). You will run out of stuff to do in every video game. In Minecraft's case, there is a way around it. Make up your own game inside Minecraft. Minecraft is a sandbox game. The only time you run out of things to do is when you yourself can no longer think of anything to do.
I am certainly glad that I was introduced to this game before creative mode was an option. Although creative mode was introduced (to the 360 version) at exactly the right time. I might have started building in creative much more quickly, had that temptation been there from the start and the entire experience of adventuring around in Survival mode might have been severely diminished. But Minecraft is obviously lacking as a "game".

After a while, all that I was doing was grinding fore materials and then building with those materials. That's exactly the point that I was at, just before this last update, when creative mode became available. But this has got me to thinking, that if Minecraft simply becomes a construction set, then there are much more useful and diverse endeavors for that sort of thing.
You could just use the Half Life construction set, if all that you want to do is drag your mouse around and make stuff. I'd rather see things get a little more interesting in survival mode. Things like making it so that mining could be done more effectively and that farming and industrial systems could be made to acquire large quantities of most materials. Perhaps you could eventually make a jet pack (make it difficult), so that you could have virtually the same swift approach to construction.
All of this lends itself much better to the other aspects of the game: exploration, adventure, survival, practical construction etc. Giving the game more purpose. Making your art more interesting and contextual. They could essentially include a means of creating your own highly effective tool set. That way, you are still fully immersed in the adventure and atmosphere of the game, while not being stifled as much creatively.

I do grow bored with just building things in Minecraft and I'm sure that I'm not only one of a few who feel this way. The game was much more interesting in the beginning, before I started building these massive projects. I enjoyed building things for creative and practical purposes alike, in a world that's not so "peaceful". IMO, creative mode sort of waters the game down and peaceful just wussifies it. I understand that all of these things are simply optional and I get that. I was only trying to say that I'd like to see some improvement in survival, so that I do not feel pushed into building in creative. I love the game guys. It's all that I've played in months. Just making some suggestions. Sorry about thew wall. I did try to fix it.

It wasn't hard. Made it much easier on the eyes, thus making it easier to read.
Thanks, I'll use that actually. I'm not use to writing in forums and I should be more considerate of the reader.

What exactly is tekkit, I'm not quite sure what it is, though I have heard of it.
It's like taking minecraft and pushing it into an industrial area full of machines. all of which you make yourself obviously. You essetually create things with not only the ores in the game but a mass amount of extra materials in which can create very scientifical things, cush as a quarry, or a nuclear bomb. Stuff like that. I think I summed it up alright

They are referring to your wall of text. And yes, it is hard to understand.
Since you asked.

I agree. I have NO idea what was said.
