Ok, so I know that in the latest patch they made it so that clay wasn't as difficult to find. Well, does that mean in current worlds generated before the patch will have more clay? Or will they be stuck without it?
So, if I go to unexplored/ungenerated areas, it will mist likely be there?
Yes. In 1.8 terrain, Sand, Dirt, and Clay make up the bottom of water now. So it should be located on the bottoms of rivers, oceans, and most other water in 1.8 terrain.
And on uncommon to rare cases you may actually still find it on banks of water, where the beaches use to be..O_o
I actually found on a world where it did that. 2 of what10 or so worlds that i generated.... didn't quite thoroughly check them all, it was just something i noticed out of the corner of my eye a couple times. Even when i finally made one for survival mode I actually found a patch like that, usually near sand...
Speaking of sand, or well close enough to it, also if you have a village in your world it is quite possible that clay spawned under the crops in those villages, as that is quite common, especially in a desert biome village. So there is actually more clay than in 1.7.3. At least from what I have experienced both on the xbox and the pc equivalent version. Mostly on the xbox since that is what i play mostly...lol

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Look under water closely. It helps to go under water and look. From above the clay and sand are very similar, but there is a color difference. Under water you wonder why you didn't see them before.
Alright alright alright...I just want to be clear here: If I start up my very first world that I made since the release of the game, and go to ungenerated/unexplored areas of the map, I will most likely find clay?

correct?
If there is a significant amount of water located there, then yes.
Just be careful when digging the clay from under the water, that you don't dig into a ravine below.
I did that and ended up being swept down to near bedrock. Didn't help cause I had practically just started the level and had only 2 stone pickaxes, and no torches on me. Had to start the level from scratch.
Same here. I'm also finding a lot of clay in swamp biomes. When you look at your map you see some brighter blue dots in the water. These indicate that there is clay there. Well at least so it seems in my world.
Easiest to try it out first in creative.
You can always make a new world with the same seed as your survival world and start it in survival mode. This way your achievements in the survival world wil still be registered on the leaderboards.
If you switch between modes, your achievements/leaderboard scores will be disabled.
instaed of starting over you could have went in creative mode and either flew out. or give yourself a daimond pick
Could have done, or I could have given myself host privelages. . . .but I'd feel like I was cheating myself. If I go into creative, I always find myself getting like a hundred diamonds. Too easy imo.
I don't care if it's ingame or outgame. Please, share this info :}
As above. IF you switch between creative/survival, or give yourself host privelages, your achievments and leaderboard stats will be disabled. So if you care about these then do not save your game and go into creative, then save again. If you don't care, then it's a really useful idea.
I have tried that, and I renamed the one i went into creative to a different name, and was able to have the other as well.. Basically just make sure you rename it, after you've saved it in creative, and already backed up the other to USB.
Cloud drive is a bit sketch in my opinion, I don't know if it will work on that, but I do know it will work on USB doing so.:D

Ah, no. What I was getting at is me switching modes on my same seed, same map, same everything. Say....I am super stranded, or I wanna add a neat little nuance to a structure, but don't have the means to do it, can I somehow switch to creative, add a couple things or do what I needa do, then back to survival to play "fair and square"? lol no pun intended
1.8.2 that was changed... so no... it covers the ocean floor or and water source floor along with sand and dirt...
nothing really new in this recent update...

i saw clay at the bottom of an ocean in creative mode. probably impossible to get from hoe deep it is. plus there is a current taking you to a underwater cave type thing
Not impossible, it's just time consuming and you just need a lot of ladders and a lot of dirt. The ladders create an Air Pocket and the Dirt is used to support this, or you could use cobblestone instead. That way you could make yourself air pockets and traverse the Ocean floor to get Clay. This is how I primarily do it in a seed without a Swamp.

Wait, in MCXB, you can switch modes mid-game? Can I do something like that in the pc version?
On the PC version, you can switch game modes mid-game provided you have cheats activated.
