I recently downloaded .... and I did not get any new eggs or mobs. It is loaded and shows as active but no new eggs or mobs are shown or can be selected from the download content screen.
No spawn eggs added.
New mobs are kinda hard to find unless you know where to look.

Well, The only things you can download from DLC are Skins, Dashboard Themes and Gamer Pics.
I'm totally lost as to what the OP is talking about.
If he's talking about the 1.8.2 update, there are no mob spawn eggs in this update. As for the new mobs, there are only 3. Endermen, Cave Spiders, and Silverfish. Silverfish are only in Stronholds, Caves Spiders are only in Abandoned Mineshafts, and Endermen can sometimes just be hard to see because they blend in with darkness and teleport during the day.

OP just wait for 1.2.3, that's when we'll have actual in game spawn eggs. You probably didn't actually read the thing you bought, which is pretty important to do before wasting your money. It scares me, because I would think somebody like you finds a computer case (for building your own computer), and thinks it's an actual computer, then buys it. Please please please please don't buy something unless you are sure that it is exactly what you're looking for. Just for future reference okay?
Overlooking the necro... Did you buy the Avatar item? Double check for me. I will bet that is what you did. Minecraft does not have item for sale that are useable in the game. Those come from updates.

If you are talking about the recent update to Minecraft, spawn eggs are not yet in the game. They'll be in the next major update.
If they were spawn eggs chicken would spawn right away.
