Well Im in the middle of building my castle and my original plan was to use stone brick then black wool for trim and tower roofs, but with the lack of sheep and not being able to trap and farm their wool now im looking for an alternative. I have started it using cobblestone instead but its just to close in color to stone brick and blends too much, i need more of a contrast. What would you guys suggest that would look good and make the castle pop. Oh and this is survival mode too.. all legit.
There is only 3 strongholds per world, so i dont think you will get enough to complete the castle.
If there were 3 per world i think people would have an easier time finding them... especially me. But It was mentioned that there is only 1 per world. And it all depends on the size of the stronghold. Some are small and some are pretty vast. You might look into a transmutation Machine. I really aught to see if that thing works now.
there is a more simple one that still works though, as the transmutation machine is quite complex to a degree, or well takes up quite a bit of space and uses a lot of different resources. Simple to make though, either of them. Just look for transmutation minecraft on you tube.

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
The transmutation table is on Tekkit, not the Xbox Edition of Minecraft
That is not what i was talking about...*shakes head*
You can build one, whether it is a small or large one. It is not a table, but a machine looking thing. And Tekkit is something I never really fully liked in the first place...
Still today I am going to see if the bigger one I made works...:D

I can confirm that there is a working large transmutation machine. I have built it and it can make any color of wool as well as do the stone brick transformations.
As opposed to the transmutation machine, you could use the stone brick stair bug. As many people know, when you break a stone brick stair you get a different block back depending on its orientation. Look east while placing to get mossy stone brick, look south for cracked stone brick, the other two directions give you two different types of standard stone brick that will not stack with each other. Its a bit of a loss on resources, as it takes 6 stone bricks to make 4 stone brick stairs, but...its fast and easy especially if you cant get a transmuter to work.
Ah does that transmutation machine thing actually work now?
I tried creating one a few months back and either I built it in the wrong direction, or it just didn't work back then! (and no I don't mean Tekkit either! I mean the one you actually create yourself using blocks etc)
Would be great to use it for making the mossy stone bricks, etc on a Survival world, without having to use Creative to get them.
A stronghold wouldn't really be a great source for them, even if you took the whole thing apart you probably wouldn't have too many stacks of them to built something bigger, not sure actually haha!
Well certain ones work. I still can't get my big one to work but the one I posted does, even though you would have to make a set of 2 different ones for each brick thingy. I believe the circle stone is not in due to fact that we don't have temples yet...
Also another one that is even smaller than that. One that you place a torch in either of the sides or ground in a hole, which only uses 1 sticky piston still works.:D Never tried the stone bricks in it yet though, so I don't know where to place to get certain ones. I've only ever used that one to get lime green wool...O_o or dark wood..lol

i use alot of wool as well i have a idear make a mob trap collect the string and then make that into wool you should get a fairbit of string from a mobtrap someone please correct me if i am wrong on this as im fairly new. best of luck to you.
yes mob spawners will get u a good bit of string to get wool. a bt wasteful on your dye resource though as it becomes a 1/1 ratio for colored wool instead of getting up to 5 peices of wool from one dyed sheep.
what i would do if you plan to go the mob trap route is find a cave spider spawner and build that into a mob trap. but be careful. cave spiders can be a bit dangerous and it wont be easy to build near their spawner. but will yeild you a great deal of string. you can find cave spider spawners in mine shafts.
if u have buckets, lava, water and diamond pick axe just place lava and then add water for obsidian, mine it n theres your black instead of black wool
Now why would he waste lava water to make obsidion that takes half an hour to mine to put it up on his castle(likley to misplace) thats the worst idea ever.
Thanks! I was leaning towards that or the dark wood. I really just want it to fit the look of a real castle and not look out of place.
Hmmm.. Ive found a couple villages, dungeons, one abandoned mine shaft, but haven't ever seen a stronghold. Any tips?

Exactly, Not sure where that guy think he's posting..
No, that doesn't exist.
It the transmutation Machine/Build doesn't exist then what is this?
I have tried this and it works...
The bigger one I couldn't get to work, more less find the video I got it from...><
I have a mini one too and I know that works at least for wool. Haven't tried stone brick just yet.
