I've seen that there have been threads posted about the lack of animals already, but it's pretty ridiculous. I've made about 15 worlds already and all of them have 3 sheep on the whole map and almost no cows, but a million wolves.
Why isn't there a small update to change this? I think enough people have complained about it and it seems like it would be an easy fix....
Its random. I've seen bunch of sheep but barley any pigs in my world. I don't see as much cows either too. But mobs take longer to spawn now so that is most likely the answer to your problem.
Hmm I see, but why did they make mobs take longer to spawn? I think the new change is a lot worse than what it was like before. It can take days and days just to make a bed, and to make a carpet/floor it would take years.

Probably has to do some with the fact the animals don't despawn anymore. Maybe memory?

I have noticed this as well. No farm animals but tons of dogs. I trapped a cow by my house and since animals dont despawn, i cant get milk over and over. i also have a chicken farm from throwing eggs in a pen. I had sooo much trouble making a bed, but all of a sudden, i saw like 8 sheep in a field and sheared them all. Now i have 30 pieces of wool. Just give it some time and keep your shears handy (:
I see every animal occasionally on my new world, often groups of them. It's kind of funny how I get all the passive mobs when I don't even need them, since it's a creative world. Yet it seems nearly everyone I talk to rarely finds any animals.
like some of the others said, just kill the wolves and hope something else spawns. I killed about 8 the other day, and I saw a cow spawn near my home(which I led to a pen), and a sheep spawned closeby as well. I sheared the sheep and killed it since it won't regrow wool. Be sure to look in pits where the animals can be trapped. I've found a few this way as well.
You can make white wool by using 4 strings, just find an abandoned mine and you'll get a bunch of strings,
Or a spider spawner...lol and make a mob trap, if not just slaughter as many you need...
Those worlds with all wolfs means there may not be sheep since wolfs hunt sheep. Therefore makes sense. Would be nice if in the very least toned the spawn of wolfs down a notch...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
Missing mobs? Have you really looked for them? Try at the bottom of ravines, in tunnels, oceans. I am always finding them stuck in the ravine or in the ocean or the bottom of a mine
I found killing wolves is ineffective, they just respawn. Befriend the wolves you come across, this seems to end the spawning of the wolves. I have 12-15 dogs outside my house, and haven't seen a wolf since.
Also do as kyi2604 says, search ravines and holes to look for stuck animals.
After this I have been able to capture 5 sheeps, 3 cows, and lot of pigs.
Can not seem to get the sheep to regrow its wool. Any ideas?
Its sad that sheep dont re grow wool yet. You have to kill them to get more wool. One of the updates will change it so that they feed on long grass and regrow their wool.
My world is all wolves as well, kill every one I come across and it seems more wolves spawn instead of sheep.
I have repeated this experiment independently and can verify its validity.

What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Retired StaffYeah that is what I do to get food. That, farming, and killin' zombies
