im having a problem with slimes spawning in A SLIME CHUNK with half slabs on the ground. problem: mobs do not spawn on half slabs.

Because slimes are weird, plain and simple.
I've personally seen big slimes spawn in rooms with a 2 meter high room, splitting themselves. I've also heard reports from people of slimes spawning in water or lava. Frankly, if they spawned on transparent blocks, it wouldn't surprise me.
In creative I've noticed slimes taking damage for some odd reason. Plus slimes can push you around even if you are a few blocks above them. Should probably post that in the bugs/glitches thread...
My guess is they are spawning on a non half slab block and making their way over to your half slab area. I doubt very much they are spawning ON the half slabs as I use them in all my worlds to deactivate my auto slime farm and it works everytime.

its because i have 4 slime chunks right beside each other and i dont want all of them spawning because that lowers my spawn rate. in case you didnt know slimes dont despawn. they only dissappear from dying.

the entire room is sealed off and every block on the floor is a half slab. my thought is that they somehow spawn in the wall and just go in to the room thats been sealed off, thats how i see it imo
I can pretty much confirm this, in 1.7.3 I had a multi tier slime farm. The middle floor was used for pistons but the whole 16x16 was covered with half slabs. There was a 1 block airspace above them (slabs) but I was still getting slimes stuck in there. Try placing water down in those chunks you dont want slimes to spawn C4

i guess that could be a better fix than having to fill it all in with blocks.
