All you have to do is fly up to the point where you can no longer see the ground, stay there for about 5 seconds, the fall back down, they should all be despawned

Or you could just wait until they travel far enough to despawn. Since that's what's happening anyway and flying upwards has nothing to do with it. Chunks are determined by a 16 x 16 area. The volume spans from sky-limit to bedrock. Your Y coordinate has no effect whatsoever on chunk loading.
Since the 'Y' coordinate of the entire map is low enough to allow slimes to spawn, and since slimes are considered hostile mobs that can spawn in any light level, and since other hostile mobs do not spawn unless in a dark area, it allows slimes to spawn in near infinite numbers.(of course still limited by the hostile mob cap).

I haven't seen any for a while I have had them while n peaceful but they may have just stayed there from easy. There was heaps on easy.
