I'm getting tired of hearing the standard response from everyone when a bug or issue is brought up and people say " it was like that in the pc" or "it was fixed after beta".
As far as im concerned, I have NOT purchased a beta product on the Xbox. There is no reference as far as I can tell when purchasing the software that indicates it is a beta product. So why the hell are we getting beta bugs and issues ported to the Xbox. 4J have already indicated they may want to take the Xbox along a different path. So why aren't they porting fixes to the known pc bugs from each version??
Mass Effect 3, Skyrim, Battlefield 3, MW3, The Witcher 2, Borderlands 2. None of those are Betas yet they still have bugs. Bugs are an inescapable part of gaming. There will never be a perfect game without a single bug.
4J spends their time fixing the bugs that occur from recoding the game into C++ from Java. They probably run into hundreds of bugs doing just that. They don't have time to fix them all. They're already working on a bug fix so keep your panties on.
I agree with the OP. I think that bugs known to have exited in the PC version and that have been subsequently fixed in the PC version, should be fixed before getting onto the XBox version. Yes, programming inevitably results in bugs; but they should at least be able to work out the old and subsequently fixed bugs before releasing the equivalent update from the PC. Personally, I was expecting to experience mostly "new bugs" and not quite so many of the same oh same oh same oh ones as the PC.
Part of the difficulty, though, is that I don't think everything that the players interpret as a bug is a bug. Some of them are just bad ideas that were later changed. Fixing these is a touchier area, since we don't really know what 4J's contractual obligations are nor do we perhaps know the "purpose" Notch may have had in mind when he opted to put certain things into the game and then later decided to take them out. Part of the experience of this game, it seems, is its own developmental journey.
Don't get me wrong guys. I completely understand that there will always be bugs in programming, and I can be (and are now) patient enough to wait for a fix.
What I can't accept is that minecraft has been developed on pc already. Its gone through many versions and each one has had its share of bugs. So why are 4J porting these bugs with each update? Why not implement the fixes that the pc versions went through along with each update?? I think that is what most people are becoming so irate about.
All in all I have enjoyed 1.8.2. The bugs haven't impacted me too badly, and I am looking forward to the next update. I just think the sooner 4J goes its own way with minecraft on Xbox, the better.
I understand ops p.o.v. It seems they could just "code them out" during the transition from Java to C++, but I don't really know anything about coding or any of that, so that may not even be possible.
