Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
I've had worlds where I only see two animals in all. The next update needs a better animal respawn rate
This is how it is on the PC version, it makes it so you have to do certain things in your world. Or once we get spawn eggs just use those.

That's not how it is on the PC version, only during the 1.8 beta period.
It's a broken spawn mechanic. The only difference with this Xbox 1.8 and the PC 1.8 is that on the PC animals would spawn but would always be crowded in some random nook that's hard to find or stranded out in open areas of water. I've created a few worlds on my Xbox now and animals just aren't spawning often at all, other than the massive hordes of wolves. There is no case of "wander around, you'll see some new animals eventually.", there are barely any initial animals to begin with. As suggested before in other threads; kill all wolves you see and clear all tall grass you see. That should get some spawning eventually.
You can make food out of other materials, then when you can make a nether portal... Kill PigMen for the chops I havent really had a problem with not having animals
Animals are pretty scarce in my world. I'll see pigs once in awhile, a few cows now and again, but NO sheep. I've had 3 sheep in my world and that's it. I have yet to see any more sheep to this day, and red roses. I have none, all I see are yellow ones, there aren't any roses. ;____;
I had packs of wolves near my spawn, but the other side of the mountain range has herds of sheep and occasionally a number of cows, with pigs showing up every couple days. If you can't find any animals and it's a real issue, just start a new world.
4j effed up something with the spawning, presumably to prepare for the upcoming breeding (my guess). animals are SUPER scarce in my world too. when i started my new world the day after the update i couldnt find ANY sheep up until yesterday when a pack of 3 decided to spawn immediately upon loading the game. i haven't seen them or any others since though... wolves also spawn out the a** compared to how they used to spawn.
I just started a new world. So far I have only found 1 chicken. 1 CHICKEN!!!! I actually had to cheat in creative mode because I was starving to death.
Ok, so i think my friends and i have figured a way around this problem. For the past few days we have had an abundance of animals on our worlds. You very simply build a 1 block tall square of dirt to whatever size you want( the bigger the better ), line the inside of the dirt with fencing, then create a small wheat farm in the middle of the square. Walk around your map killing all that you see. In a few game days, your trap should have at least a few animals in it. Every time i walk by mine i find 4-10 animals in it and its only about 15x15 with a 5x5 wheat farm in it. I hope it helps those of you who are struggling with your vegan diet

Yeah, I had a hard time with chickens as well. I've been fine with cowss, and sheep. Shoot, I've seen more cows than I used to on the old version. Maybe I just got lucky on my map...
Since the land animals are minimal, I've been fishing my butt off. Since most of the worlds I create have large water segments (either huge oceans or lots of streams/rivers) I have become a night fisherman while out exploring. I didn't do much fishing before, so I don't know if 35 fish in one game night at one location is good or not. But it's more than enough to keep my food bar topped off.
I ended up making a new world that I swore to myself to only play on Hard. Wolves are overflowing, but I can hardly find anything else. I found a chicken after quite some time, so I followed it around for about 20 minutes, just waiting for it to drop eggs. I ended up collecting 4, then building my own chicken farm. Only 1 out of 4 eggs made a chicken, but luckily I have a chicken in a fence now. I slowly worked my way up to 10 chickens as of now, and they'll be a good source of food eventually. However, I haven't found a single cow on my world so far.
Edit: It's kind of cool, though, that I'm playing an only-Hard world, and this is definitely making it a lot harder.
I'm about a week into my latest world and haven't found a single sheep. I haven't slept yet but luckily I haven't died yet either so haven't had to respawn.
Explored the whole map and found approx 10 pigs, 5 cows and 10 chickens. Aswell as the customary wolf pack or five
If you aren't playing on peaceful, did you know that you can make one piece of wool from four strings? so 12 strings to make wool for a bed.......
