I know this has happened to everyone...
But it just happened to me and now i don't even wanna play minecraft xD
You might not be able to notice but its uneven
omg im so dumb...Now that i see the picture up close and personal i see the problem now...
another lesson, as taught by countless shop teachers:
Measure twice, cut once!
Before you go laying all those blocks, actually lay out the basic shape with a contrasting color to whatever's on the ground. I use sand most of the time, as its easy to remove.
If you had counted it all out, noticed you had a doubling, instead of a perfect 45 degree alignment of blocks, you could have shifted it on the FIRST row, instead of doing all that work wrong.
Happened to me on my castle build. All of my walls are either 13 long, or 5 long when coming into an intersection.
Some of them I built 14 and 6 long on accident . Luckily I just removed the extra . It's always better to have extra than not enough , when you don't have enough usually you have to tear down the entire build . Then I just quit for like a week
No, it was completely functional, it just looked like crap. All the mechanisms were bulky and awkward, distance between components wasn't consistent, everything was pretty much one big clusterf*ck. That was one of my first redstone builds, and my designs sucked. xD Hell, those adders aren't even my design. They're from the Wiki, and probably the worst design ever documented.
The save got corrupted and I ended up rebuilding the entire machine from the ground up when I actually knew what I was doing. Here are both versions, just for a good comparison of how crappy the first one was.
^ That looks like my redstone work. Lol
Wish I knew what I was doing. Its just trial and error with me. As long as it works I'm happy. Compact and hidden aren't even in my vocabulary.
I recently built a compound out in a desert and it had a good amount done when I realize it wasn't square. I think I've got right now, but I bet someone joins my server and spots something off.

Don't worry, you'll get better after awhile, it took me about a month to teach myself how to design components correctly. After playing with redstone enough you'll automatically know several ways to accomplish your goals. It becomes easier to restrict yourself to certain area and design a mechanism within it. (Within reason)
now we got creative its so much easier to teach yourself redstone, just lay it all out and leave it, best way to learn is trial an error,
learn by your mistakes always stuck in my head from my school days, just dont make the same ones again !
Aye, this is so true. Trial & error and the process of elimination.

I was making a 30 odd block wide Pokeball and half way up I realised that one of the sides was uneven from near enough the bottom. Well annoying!
