I use a 3-catici chicken grinder right behind my lava grinder, but that's "making sure" nothing gets through!

Yes, there is a minecart track to the top of the roof. It is hilarious to watch after dark. even funnier to do this in the nether and walk up to some pigmen and attack and run. until of course the ghosts find you.
