In my opinion a self destruct mechanism( for someting you have built in minecraft) is pointless because it does nothing beneficial. What do you guys think?

I was just saying because some people say that if there house was getting overrun by non passive mobs or griefers, then they would want to self destruct their house.

I like to put an unlabeled button in some off my creations with loads of TNT around in a certain pattern to do the most damage just to see how many people will push a somewhat random, unlabeled button.

Its for the giggles.

ever since the button was created, it always seems to have been there....O_o

You are wrong it does have a point...self destruction.

I plan on making one that blows up the surface of a map and most of the underground.

Actually, when I started reading this post I was thinking "WTF has this got to do with anything?"

Now however, I am going to be placing random blocks with buttons near, (not too near), my stuff just to see how inquisitive people can be muahahaha

So in answer to your original question (which I was about to flame you for). No, they are not pointless.

Oh! Self Destruct buttons concentrate an energy pulse through an electrical circuit, which leads to an explosive device. The explosive device detonates and obliterates the building the self destruct button was directed for.
