just curious if everyone else has been having connection issues since the update? I hosted for over 2 months on 1.7 and had very few issues. Since updating people have been having lag and get kicked all the time from my server. I have a 30mb connection and have done everything I can think of without luck. Any suggestions or maybe there is nothing that can be done? It reminds me of Halo and COD releases where the online is broken for weeks:)
I'm guessing 30MB/s is your download speed. If that's upload speed, your network connection is made out of Jesus. But your upload speed is the main thing that matters here. How fast is that, 3MB/s or so? Maybe 4?
Yes I am guessing about that. The main point is that before the update hardly any lag. After update everyone can barely play at time and always get kicked. If I always had these issues I would not post but this started the day of the update so I am asking if there are others having this issue without getting into network speed debate.
Hmm, I was mining blocks yesterday and I got to a set of five of them that would slowly disappear then re appear, kind of like lag, except it was single player. I thought it was just a glitch and restarted the system, and it didn't happen again.
thanks guys. I was expecting more posts so I am thinking it may not be as widespread as I had hoped for. just for the sake of not knowing what to try next. I guess my hosting days may be limited:(
Well this definitely happens to me and my friends all of the time - whoever is not hosting tends to lag out quite often. That signature disappearing blocks happens all of time; you're mining/planting numerous blocks and they constantly disappear before you. This usually happens right before you lag out but not all of the time.
I have also experienced offline lag as well like some of you were saying. Most recently I noticed that there is a glitch in the Nether. I was building a single block cobblestone tower up to some glowstone, and when I made it to mining range I continued to build a platform for the descending pieces of mined glowstone to fall on. Ghasts would be constantly firing fireballs at me, and the fireballs would get stuck on the platform and keep glitching around, like a pixel breakdown, it kept twitching across the screen. One of the times I was stuck on the fireball and I couldn't even move.
The offline problem isn't really as big, but it definitely gets annoying online with friends.
ive being on a new map for the past day and was running ok in offline mode, but then i noticed it started to lag abit, checked it was offline, i suddenly realised i had put down 14 chests not 10 mins before, so i broke them all up and no lag,
i noticed the chest even look glitchy ??
wonder if its the new chests causing the problems ?
It's a possibility for sure. I know there is definitely something glitchy with the chests, even in offline they will randomly open and close just minutes after I have used them. Walk into the room and the chest is just randomly sitting there open, no one even around it.
I dont think its the chests, because my new 1.8 world is the most developed of my friends worlds, with quite a lot of them, and when I host things tend to run smoothly. I host and they are on my world for hours without any boots and only a few lag spikes, but I join one of my friends worlds and I can't even walk around filling my map without getting a boot.
I've noticed a LOT of lag when it rains. Never used to be like that (And I know rain - my pre 1.8 would usualy have between 1-3 rain storms every IRL hour.).
It seems like framerate lag, everything get very jumpy
yeah same here, everyone I talk to has had so many lagging issues I actually counted the seconds it took for a block to update the other night, 176 seconds almost 3 minutes of lag!!
And on another map my friend has that I play on all the time we have invisible chickens somehow that spawn eggs for our coupe and all the items you can see laying on the ground or even the minecarts have certain viewing angles that make them invisible or start blinking.
