its almost the same they just added some new area like a piston area they also added some cool easter eggs there are 12 each one has a disc some people are trying to find them allso i say its good
From what I've seen, the various builds in this world are not as nice as the old world. The first little tutorial area is essentially the same; but the villages are now almost standard NPC (with some beds and chests added). From the vids, I thought they were putting in some really cool builds, like the Scottish bridge; but I finally took a quick fly over the whole tutorial world in creative mode and didn't spot it. As for the tutorial itself, I haven't been able to stay with it long enough in one session to get beyond the first little bit... and the hint tabs don't seem to want to pick up where I left off once I save and exit. When I re-enter the world, it just starts to play like a "normal" world.
I also thought they were adding a Creative Mode tutorial; but I honestly don't even know how to get it to come up in Creative Mode. No options screen comes up before the tutorial launches; and it seems to always default to whatever the last survival difficulty was that I've used.
I can handle the new village or even where the portal is now, but I kinda miss the castle that was there. That was a work of art compared to quite a few things now in the tut. There was actually more to the tutorial world in the old edition than there is now, which really disappoints me. Sure the new one has the 12 disc finding thing, but to me that is all. There was more to find in the first one, in my opinion, if not a little more spread out....
Of course i could just load up the old one i was working on, but i don't wanna run the risk of it disappearing like so many have had problems with... I really aught to see if my other 2 usb storage devices can be converted to be used as a back up thing for xbox. The 3rd one I have just flat out didn't work...
Begining to wonder if you should clear all the space before trying to convert... oh well.. either way i will figure it out...:D

I had 2 old tutorial worlds on my HD and they were lost almost immediately... apparently overwritten by the new ones I had started.
would renaming an existing tutorial world help it from being overwritten? we can rename worlds now, right?
i have yet to even log in and check this last update! as excited as i was, things just keep coming up!
I would NOT try renaming anything. People have been reporting this as the cause of their old worlds going missing.
In my case with the tutorials, I'm just not sure what happened. As I recall, I wasn't trying to rename anything at the time I noticed them going missing. It may just be a coincidence that I had also opened 2 new tutorials and they were the ones I found on my HD. Fortunately, after reading about the rename bug, I checked and my main build world is still there (and that was the only 1.7.3 file that I really cared about anyway).
Renaming the new files seems to be fine... very weary of the renaming old ones, although i have no reason to rename since i Named most of my worlds accordingly anyhow.
Well I can say my tutorial world didn't go missing, but then again i did do quite a bit of building work on it...lol No matter... The only bugs I ever get are the simple fix chest bug... so far... And now that i finally made back-ups of all my worlds i can be finally relax and play on some of those again...:D

More enough reason I came on the forums in the first place...lol
Better safe and backed up than not to have one and loose em... I apollogize for the lose, and greatful that it hasn't happened to me yet. Not that it matters too much but I did want to develope on my 1.7.3 ones i made prior to the update so I would have some worlds that actually had that old generation look...:D

It gives a good example of the piston system and lets the user build some. New village as well that is the basic layout as many villages you will find in newly generated worlds. Example of a stronghold as well. Plus it gave plenty of access to checkout Endermen outside the new village.
Miss the castle in the old tutorial, but I can't complain with the new one.

ummm... the piston system was in the old one as well...O_o even had supplies.... Really the only new thing is:
A hunger part added.
That stronghold look a like even though strongholds really do not look even close to that, but basic concept which is nice.
The village was different, and as you said, made more similar to what you would find in the generation, or well close to it... Just dolled up a bit.
12 Discs to find in various places.
Made on a newly Generated map, however that must have taken a while to get the starter area to look pretty much the same as the old one, however i think it looks a bit bigger than the old one for some reason...
Nether portal is place behind what you, i am guessing you are refering to as an example piston use. Which is basically show anyway with the water gate...
All in all for someone new it will be good and decent enough to learn the place. For me there really isn't much to it, which means it feels like there is less to the tutorial world than there was in the original. Either way still a decent amount was done regardless. I am begining to wonder if the tutorial world will ever include the nether...lol
Or well at least a show off attempt at it.. I don't see that happening unless the nether fortresses come, but even then... who knows...:D

I prefer neither, I personally think that the tutorial has ruined the experience, the sense of discovery for newcomers. It should instead give them hints, rather than showing them exactly how to play the game.
I also thought they were adding a Creative Mode tutorial; but I honestly don't even know how to get it to come up in Creative Mode. No options screen comes up before the tutorial launches; and it seems to always default to whatever the last survival difficulty was that I've used.

Either way, I hate tutorials worlds and never use them. I only go on them to blow stuff up. Its like my crash derby world.

They weren't designed for you.

Check out my Homestuck OC and ask him a question, or tell him to do something in his intro! If you have an OC, I'm looking for roleplay partners!
