That is true, but if you have a massive amount of melons, no harm done. and on the saturation, porkchops and steak are the best, and mushroom stew is equal to 2 of those meats if 2 of it is eaten, if that makes sense
Watermelon is actually a lot faster and easier to farm than wheat for Bread. The only difficulty is finding melon seeds. After that though, it's probably the best food in the game.
It doesn't need to be replanted after the first time, and each melon drops 3-7 slices a piece. Within the first 5 minutes of having a melon farm, you can have at least 2-3 stacks of melon slices.
That's good to know now all i have to do is find some melon seeds(still haven't yet) and i'll be good to know. I saw someone say you can farm chicken meat is that true?
Well, if you carry just melon slices, yes, it is wasteful. HOWEVER! if you have many many many melons, you can break them into melon slices, and then craft them into blocks again. this will waste some slices (one stack of melons weilds average 320 slices).
I decided to do the math, so here goes
1 stack of melons = (aproximatly) 320 food points.
1 stack of cooked porkchops = 256 food points.
1 stack of steak = 256 food points.
1 stack of chicken = 192
1 stack of fish = 160.
1 stack of bread = 160
1 stack of apples = 128.
1 stack of rotten flesh = 128 + 80% chance of getting food poisoning (can be overcome by having many rotten flesh)
1 stack of cake = 6
1 stack of cookies = 64
1 stack of mushroom soup = 256 food points (takes 3 inventory slots, however, can be crafted on the move, without consuming fuel, needing a furnace or crafting table)
so, my conclusion is that melons ARE the best food, and second is mushroom stew, and third is porkchops and steak.
mushroom stew get second because it doesnt consume fuel, and can be made and consumed on the go, and in swamp biomes, readily availiable. but on a plain food point veiw, all three tie for second.
Wrong, melons don't add much to the saturation bar. That means you're eating more often. Your "research" doesn't include the saturation bar, the most important part, making it useless.
Saturation is an invisible factor that depletes before the food bar does. its total value is 20, same as the food bar (half shank = 1)
bread = 6 saturation points
cake = 2.4 sat points
cookie = .4 sat points
melon slice = 1.2 sat points
mushroom soup = 9.6 sat points
chicken = 7.2 sat points
steak = 12.8 sat points
porkchops = 12.8 sat points
fish = 6 sat points
apples = 2.4 sat points
golden apples = 9.4 sat points
rotten flesh = .8 sat points
Even with this added information, I stand by that melons, if you have large amounts, are the best food to have. but i will now add that you should eat it WITH bread, because bread heals more sat points than food bar, and melons are the oppisite. your call though. porkchops and steak are supierior on a 1 for 1 scale, with mushroom stew right behind them. so again, same as before, best 5 foods in the game are
1, melons, for their ease of production and stackability.
2, porkchops and steak for their saturation level
3, mushroom stew, for its ease of production, and food saturation
4, and bread, for its high saturation level and ease of production.
Nah, I stick by the OP. With the both the small amount of room you need in your inventory and the saturation you can get out of porkchops, as long as you take care to not die in the nether, farming pigmen is really the best source of food. I have a whole chest full of them, I can go on a looooooooong mining expedition, including combat, and only use a dozen or so.
Plus, pigmen hunting is fun, and good for your leaderboard stats. ;P
This is so old.. Ive posted like 500 times that Pigmen still drop Porkchop if u use the search bar ull see it anyways hey mods shouldnt he be getting a Fraction or praction what ever u call it? since the Thread is "REDUNDANT" as what u call my other threads? o.o?

You, sir, only have 401 posts as of this post.
Do they ever stop dropping cooked porkchops? because I think it's awesome. Personally, I wouldn't eat them because gross, cooked food from something you just killed? lol.

I need to give out more reputation. I'm not used to the system, but I see so many helpful posts. D: Sorry if I forget you!
i was saying what i said on ease of obtaining too....getting 64 porkchops is an achievment in and of itself. either way...and you would think they would drop rotten flesh sometimes too. maybe...rotten porkchops?
