I am in the progress of creating my own automated subway system. I have seem to hit a snag though and thought someone could help me out.

I have this pez dispenser that drops minecarts for the people to ride to the next station.



Now when the minecart drops it, drops right there in front of the button, you push the button and it powers the rails but if you get in it and push the button.... nothing happens.



Now my question is... how can I get enough momentum to start in to the next station? I tried raising the rails with sticky pistons when the regular rail is. All it did when it came back down was break the rail.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to put a block behind the location the cart falls on so the engine knows which way to get going...picture to follow on how to do this with a continuous track such as yours...

make a 2x1 hole in the ground, have 2 powered rails inside, and then 1 stick out diagonally. Next, behind those 2 blocks that were dug out put a block and then a button on it. That way there, when you get in the minecart, all you have to do is turn around and hit a button.

you could have a sticky piston push a block up behind the cart. you'll have to take out a piece of railing to do it but when the block is pushed up it should barely interefere with the cart, pushing it enough for the powered rails to work. i have to go to class but ill post screen shots on here when i get out later of my set up.
