So where i am building my new survival base there is not allot of trees, in fact there is almost no tress. I have seen on youtube allot of people make tree farms in the nether and i want to do something like that but i want it to be covered in grass blocks because i think it would look nice. I also heard that tress wont grow naturally on dirt blocks (only on grass blocks) and have to be bonemeal'd to get them to grow but im not to sure how true that is. So is it possible to get grass blocks in the nether in survival?
Currently right now there is no way to get grass blocks in the nether on survival. When we are able to enchant items, you will need a "Silk Touch" shovel to pick up grass blocks.
Trees grow fine on dirt blocks. I have a patch of dirt blocks and trees I placed in the desert biome I am in since I don't want to trek the globe to get wood. I based at the village on my map and its in the middle of the desert.

The enderdragon never did anything to me so why go after it?
Yes, trees grow on dirt blocks as well as grass blocks. And if you're so worried about the aesthetics of your farm, change it to creative and give yourself a stack. That is, of course, achievements and leaderboard rankings matter to you.
