I am trying to understand how redstone works as far as like building a cobble stone factory... I know how to build it and make it work, but I have to manually hit the switch each and every time I want a new block of cobble stone to appear because I can't figure out how red stone repeaters work!! I am sure this is old by now but I have read about it and all I could find was info for PC version... is there any way to create a system that can automatically repeat itself without having to flip the switch over n over by hand ??? Please help..

So you are trying to make a 100% obtainable cobblestone farm. Without having to press a button or stand near lava right? If so I can help you as long as you have regular pistons, redstone & maybe a redstone repeater.

well I have it set up to where after hitting the switch a bunch of times, it makes a row of 12 before it stops pushing them out with piston, so I have another piston at the end which pushes them away to make 24 in 2 rows. I then mine them all and start again (pretty boring). But all I want to be able to do is hit switch once and it automatically creates the cobble stone and pushes them to the appropriate rows so I can mine without having to hit the switch each and every time. I see videos on how to use repeaters but it does not work for me. I don't know what I am doing wrong =/

a clock? but how? I can't get on right now, but can this be explained on here? =)
So you're trying to do something like the auto building bridge in the tutorial world except you want to mine up the cobblestone afterwards? If you want to you can go there it's in front of the giant cave. Study it for a bit then copy it.

ugh so confusing -.- I will check that out... and I don't have to mine it if there's an easier way. I thought it had to be mined by hand. I just want repeaters to work for me.
This vid has like 5 examples of a Minecraft Red Stone "Clock". Basically it is a configuration with Redstone torches and wire that create the repeating signal which you are seeking. These devices are incredibly simple and you should have no troubles after watching that tutorial.

ahh hmm. very interesting. I had no idea how this set up worked or had even seen such a way to use it... thank you =) I will try this out!
