i;m basically building a large scale tree house in superflat, and is 82 blocks high.is their a way to travel fast straight up in 1.8.2, or does anything work in 360? don't really have time to test them all out, so need a quick response.
A piston elevator is the fastest thing I can think of off the top of my head, but they're noisy and clunky. If you don't mind that, then just do a quick search on youtube for one.
Look up minecart elevator or boat elevator on youtube. They're faster than piston elevators and dont take much resources to build. It works by looking up and a minecart/boat hoping in it then while still looking clicking into the next cart and so on.
Staggered minecart elevator. I forget exactly how to do it, but it works because you can move from one minecart to another while sitting in one. So you move up and down as fast as you can click them. Not the prettiest thing, but effective. Water-vators work, and I use them...but they are slow. Piston elevators do not work reliably, or haven't in the past updates. I haven't tested one since 1.8 but I'm going to assume its not any better now.
ah.. ive built water elevators before, there quick but a set of stairs would be faster.. depends how much room you have, plus on survival water elevators can only go so high before you drown
You know you can pop your head out to breathe while still rising in the waterfall, right? You don't actually have to be fully submerged to move up water.
i built an enclosed one, wasnt fond of fallin to my death
You can use signs to create breaks in the water and form air pockets, so long as the break isn't more than a single block you'll still be able to travel upward. I think you can even place the sign in existing water so there is no need to remove the elevator before adding these air pockets. Give it a try.
