Then it wouldn't be redstone. But I do like the idea. You'd have better luck suggesting it to Jeb or Nathan on Twitter. Even better luck on Reddit, since that's the only thing they pay attention to these days.
I guess that might be sort of cool. Other than aesthetics though, it serves absolutely no purpose. I just don't see something like that being used too often.

The project you are doing right now as an example. Wouldn't it be eaiser if you could dye the redstone so you know that's the red wire goes to this and the orange one goes to this?
I dont think the coloured red stone is a bad idea but i think the different coloured blocks below it is easier to work with
if not easier to see... I would rather I make redstone into a block like lapis does and have a red block that has glossy look, instead of the wool which looks like a rug or carpet anyhow. easier to make tiles if there are many colors to go into the tile like blocks....

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.

Why not just use differently colored blocks beneath the redstone to signify different circuits until project is complete?
Funny that was mentioned, I was literally just about to post asking if people would prefer I did that. For this one, I've already decided on using only iron blocks though, so that's what it's going to be. I don't really like using colored wool, it looks hideous with the default texture pack. I think a combination of diamond, gold, iron, lapis, smooth stone, snow, and clay looks much better.
Now, what would be a good idea is the ability to craft different colored wires that would only connect to wires of the same color. I know, it's kind of stealing a feature from RedPower, but oh well. It's probably the most useful innovation any mod has ever made to redstone.
are you changing the color of Redstone?
It will still be redstone just a different color (Which sounds insane, I know, lol.)

You could do that too.

^^^ Or that, that's a substitution that's almost equal to wires... almost.
