Well if there are mineshafts in a world it will usually runs quite a ways. So it is something you really can not count on your own hand, since it varies by a lot, however they are like i said pretty big....

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
There's nothing in the games code that says it CAN'T happen, but i would immagine, seeing as how large they are, it would be very rare. I've acctually just found one in my new survival world and yes, i got... MELON SEEEEEEEEEEDS
Plus i got like a stack of string from cobwebs, found 2 cave spider spawners and got a stack and a half of rail!
I have come accross two on my seed and that is in an area smaller than 1/10th of the map. And no they are not conected in any way
I have three villiagers but my son has none
If they are close to villagers then I would assume you have a mine per village
Not always the case... been through too many random maps to know that for a fact. Some had ravines nearby. Very empty ravines at that. Not many caves spout of them and all dead ended into nothing... So on those worlds that i ditched I just didn't get anything near a village.... Well mineshaft... So it is all random to some degree based on the seed you use or randomly generate. Now only if i can stumble upon a chest and not the spawner this time...lol

I've yet to find one on my survival map, is it possible to not have any mineshafts, AT ALL?
yes, though pretty unlikely. a good way to make sure you have some is to make a creative save with your seed and do the xray glitch. takes about 5 minutes.

yes, but then it will show up as having been created in creative and everybody will think that you've made the world in creative. Besides, the xray glitch is easy to do (You're talking about the one that uses tnt and sand right?)

That's when you remake that seed in survival... You can input that seed it shows and would be fine. i use creative to find a world I wanted, and just made a new world using that very seed... So I would not have that creative popup every time....

that's what the separate save is for, make an entire separate save with the same seed so you're original save still counts towards leaderboards and everything. and there are apparently a few different ways to do the glitch, i use tnt and a sticky piston.
Thanks.
It is random like the strongholds and villages, just depends on your world.
