I find myself typing on many signs about cool things in the day, then later if I find them again I vividly remember the memory as I read what I wrote. I think being able to write a paragraph in bookshelf books would not only give bookshelves a new purpose, but would really make you feel more into character. Imagine if we could type in a few books per shelf, and if you had a library you could have many things written down to refer to later. It could even be things other than what happened, you could keep track of dungeons, mineshafts, and strongholds found, or even write lore for your world. It would even allow for fun puzzles for friends where they solves clues or riddles you left on a bookshelf in one of many books. Currently bookshelves are worthless and a waste of materials because enchanting is not here yet, this would give new reason to make books instead of it all being for looks. I get into the game when I can log what I have done on signs but you can only type like one sentence so books being useable would be fun. "Darkness fell almost instantly so I made shelter in a nearby cave.. I thought I was going to die from exhaustion and hunger, luckily there was a small pool of water in the cave and I had just dealt with a group of spiders this morning so I had string for a rod. Dinner hit the spot, I will be heading out at the crack of dawn, it will be a long journey.. I better stock up on fish before then." That was off the top of my head but you get the point, it adds a new layer of immersion to the game by using your imagination, some of you may hate the idea but I know some of you are like me and would enjoy keeping journals of the adventure.
Yeah that feature for the PC is after the 1.2.3 update they are going to stop and take a look and have a meeting before continuing on... So it is a toss up whether they will add or not, but who knows... Maybe they will add that along with some of the other goodies in 1.3.2 with has colored planks...:D

My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
You can write into books on the pc version so im guessing 4J are going to add it , good idea with the bookshelfs though
A good idea to make the XBOX version different than the PC would be to be able to store 'book and quil's in bookshelves. (book and quil is the item name for the books you can write in FYI)
I think the book and quill should be in the Xbox version. The kinect or a keyboard ( in my case a chatpad) will make it better then just using the default typing.
I hope they add this, just like signs. Because I have a USB keyboard that I got from a PS2 Gameshark bundle (lol) and it's a really sturdy keyboard that works fine. I love it, and I have physical pain when i try and use the controller to type on anything.

Exactly, all you have to do with kinect is move your hand around. Much simpler this way.
Think I'd rather use the controller than kinect, as my computer would be in the way of the kinect system. That or the controller key pad thing, even if it is small, still better than controller or kinect. I prefer typing over waving my hands around any day... I just hope if they do add kinect that it is optional, and not force you to have it for later features that may or may not be put in game.

The Book and Quill seems unfair to players who don't have these $1000 Xbox 360 keypad. Besides, it only feels natural using a computer keyboard to type down long things.
I use a USB keyboard, but I know how people feel when they type with a controller.
Not sure when they added it though , some time after 1.2.3 I'm pretty sure so who knows when or if we will ever see it implemented .

I don't think I ever have.
I have a nice one for the computer I use, but I use an older one for stuff like temporarily hooking it up to the Xbox to input LIVE codes or whatever.
But I do remember you posting about MC Commands.
