If I'm playing Survival, I'll listen to stuff like classical music or video game themes. Legend of Zelda and Lord of the Rings music fit really well while playing Minecraft for some reason lol
If I'm playing Creative though, I'll listen to whatever. Mostly Metallica, AC/DC, Disturbed, Van Halen, etc, etc. Classic Rock and Metal mostly.
You're all soft.. I like me some amon amarth, dethklok, rammstein, powerglove, and yngwie malmsteen while I play. Your brain will explode if you try to listen to them if you're not use to sick guitar and lyrics, favorite songs for them are war of the gods, the gears, ich tu dir weh, metal kombat, rising force, if you choose to check them out.. You're welcome.
I used to think it was amusing people actually listened to Dethklok. But, last month I heard I Ejaculate Fire and they're actually pretty decent now. Though, they're still very highly overrated. None of those bands have what I would call a "sick" guitarist. I do like Amon Amarth, but the technicality just isn't there.

Now this is a sick guitarist:
Dem sweeps.
I respect that your opinion is different, but I choose to not listen to that kind of metal for a few reasons an here's why. I hate vocals like that, but I love deep vocal growling like amon amarth and dethklok. The kind of metal that repeatedly screams the same words and has no catchy guitar is what you showed in my opinion, I listen to the notes and the song you showed doesn't really have the kind of guitar that makes me remember it and hit replay on it again. I mean metal is metal I like it all, but I prefer the kind of guitar playing brendon small, amon amarth, yngwie an powerglove do. Go watch "crush my battle opponents balls" "dethsupport" "yngwie full shred" and "metal kombat for the mortal man", and I think your opinion will change. Idk why but anything heavier than amon amarth kind of gives me a headache after a while haha, an you can barely understand the words, I mean i'm sure brendon or yngwie can play fast as or faster, but it takes away the "hook" in my opinion when it sounds like the guitar is lots of high low an other notes all thrown together repeated, no offense.

I agree with you 100%. I thought the same when I watched the video NJFaC posted. Sure the guy can hit all the notes and is technically impressive, but seems to lack any feeling in his solo.

Honestly, I don't care about vocals, period. My favorite bands are experiment/technical/progressive instrumental bands, Gru, Polarization, Behold... the Arctopus. But, I do like some technical metalcore/mathcore/whatever the hell the kids are calling it these days. And my opinion doesn't need to be changed, my journey into extreme metal started with your more traditional death/black metal bands. I used to listen to KoRn, Slipknot, blah blah blah, then I heard Cannibal Corpse, started listening to more of them, Behemoth, Acheron, Demonical, Deicide, all that good stuff and realized that nu-metal sucks.
I still love the old school death metal sound, don't take me as some sort of scene kid or something. We just have different opinions of "sick" guitar-work. Don't get me wrong, I love the heavy stuff, even heavier than any traditional death metal bands. You're talking to a big fan of slam death here. I listen to Abominable Putridity, Katalepsy, Malodorous, (their old stuff, the new sh*t is more deathgrind, but still incredible) Abnormity, and more. It all depends on what I'm in the mood for honestly, I'm a connoisseur of extreme music. I don't really care if it's not "kvlt" enough for the metal elitists. I get sh*t from my metalhead friends all the time because there are a few deathcore bands I like.
Halo soundtracks, Bobby Yarsulik, Coldplay, AC/DC, The flashbulb, Jon Hopkins, Deadmau5, Pink floyd... others... Depends really on the mood or what im doing like creative or exploring caves.
I mainly listen to most forms of rock/alternative past & present, and quite a bit of soundtracks from games/anime, also Classical.... (classical like orchestra type)... Some forms of trance and dance music as well... electronica too...
I guess quite a variety of music...Rasputina is always nice...
lol thats the artist of the minecraft soundtrack...
Lately I've been listening to a lot of Infant Annihilator's new singles, anxiously awaiting the new album. That and I recently picked up a The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza album, Danza III, just because it's amazing. At the same time, I got the newest album from Rings of Saturn, Embryonic Anomaly, which is a work of art.
YESSS Rings of Saturn.. or Memes of Saturn seeing how thats all they are good for on facebook haha
In no particular order:
Guns 'n' Roses, Led Zeppelin, Mumford and Sons, The killers, Johnny Cash, Queen, PowerGlove, Metallica, Kansas, Steppenwolf.
That's all I can think of at the moment but there are more.

Speaking of which, have you heard the full album stream they just posted? This new album makes Embryonic Anomaly look like BMTH. Embryonic Anomaly is still amazing... but this new sh*t, oh my god... just... wow. If anything, at least listen to Faces Imploding and Galactic Cleansing. It's just incredible, they're still very technical, but added a lot of melodic elements.
Not sure if you listen to TTDTE, but Danza IIII is the most incredible thing you'll ever hear in your life if you're into mathcore. It recently came out and it's already my favorite album of the year. Dingir takes a close 2nd place.
By the way, what's your favorite Chelsea Grin album? Personally I can't stand Evolve anymore. Which is sad because it's so amazing instrumentally. I just think Alex is totally ruining the band with the direction he's taking. They're selling out almost as bad as Suicide Silence. I wish they would've stuck with the formula they had in My Damnation. That album was easily their best work.
Alright I guess you guys have made me feel welcome enough to share my music. I probably will in my next post. I am really shy so I have to work my way into it.

Agree about the vocals as well.
