Try turning the difficulty to peaceful. Should take care of the slimes, but no other mobs spawn either.

This is one of the most common flaws with superflat worlds, it has only been addressed recently in the PC version to have the spawn rate lowered for slimes. There isnt really anything you can do. If slimes have spawned on a difficulty switching over to peaceful will not make them despawn either and brownslaughter is right about why they spawn.

They have reduced the slime spawning in superflat on the PC Version, but the xbox 360 version will likely be reduced in the next update i guess.

We are miles away from that update.. 1.3 xbox version hasnt even spoken of going to 1.3, talk is 1.2.3 then venturing off to do its own thing.

I thought they were just going to decide what to do next, not definitely venturing off on its own???

Yeah I've spent the last three days laying a 281 x 281 half slab area. I now have a completely sterile area if I stand in the middle block, perfect for testing mob grinder efficiency designs.
