I'm about to start a new survival world. But I have a question. Do you think I should live in a newly generated village or should I build my own house?

Ok when I play computer version I always choose to live in a village but I always became reliant on the village so my advise to you is to ether live near a village or just out in the wilderness
Usually if I find a village I give it a wall, some golems, just fortify the hell out of it in general. Then I add some land to the inside of the wall and slowly build a mansion from which to rule the weak-minded NPCs.

Do what I do.
I find a village that is all messed up and in need of repair.
I pretend it's abandoned and I move in to fix it up.
It's fun to play through like a story.
Ofcourse it would be better to get more people.
If it's there why not use it? Even if it's only for a night or two, you could always build a larger house in the village to call your own like stated previously. Or if you chose to move to another location you could still use it later for when you further explore the areas around said town.
I live in a village. I typically live in one of the homes and build myself a better/ nicer one somewhere in the town. Villages are nice because they provide all the basic necessitys. Food from the farms, crafting table, furnace, hell even wood and cobble from any houses I wish to scrap
On my best world on the PC version, I lived inside a village for a little while. Then I completely dismantled it, and build myself a mansion. Complete with personal slaves.

The funny thing is, by the time you finish reading this, you will have wasted about four seconds of your life...
I've never thought about using the villages. I usually just walk past them and pocket a few wheats. Or use the lava in the blacksmiths if I ca't be bothered walking to bedrock.
May use them in future though. . . do they have beds in them?
I've picked a village as near as possible to the location where I want to eventually build up my home base and moved in to one of the larger houses. Used the wool from the street lights to make a bed to reset my spawn point there (easier than trying to find sheep). Since we won't have villagers until the next update and I am not going to even try to keep this world over the next update, I have no problem with scavenging from the town and eventually remodelling things more to my liking.

I usually live in any villages I find as a stepping stone to my own place. It saves me time building a simple house, then a larger house, and slowly expanding, until I feel like I wanna move, and then I have wasted all that time. Villages save me the hassle.

I need to give out more reputation. I'm not used to the system, but I see so many helpful posts. D: Sorry if I forget you!

Basically a decent sized village lies in the middle of the map with two small er ones to the south east desert
