My current post-update cannon build is a design with three rows of 7 TNT dropping into a water trough (21 total). I dont know much about charge timing so I am rather limited in how many TNT I can use. I have a verticle spiral of redstone that branches off at the three heights and uses one of those delay things to boost the distance out. Any attempt to add a fourth layer requires me to work another one into my verticle wiring and I dont know if I want to try and adjust my lower ones to match, so for now, i use a 21 block charge.
That all works like a dream. The issue is my shot. It doesnt fire, which is odd since I built it like all my simpler cannons and they fire fine. Its on the block ahead of and above the trough, and its rigged to 5 delay devices, which is standard for my cannons. On close inspection it seems that the shot block simply dissapears a tiny bit before the charge detonates. Attempts to scan the sky to see if it was launched and went off mid-air suggest it never leaves the gun, as does the visual evidence of it dissapearing from its mounting.
My first thought was that it was falling into the water somehow but their isnt any delay, it would seem, in the charge blast, and the time delay on the shot would make it distinctly slower. My second attempt to troubleshoot was based on the theory that the game couldnt calculate 22 TnT at once, and so I severly cut back the power of the charge, but the gun still seemed not to be firing the shot.

I'm also having trouble making a player launcher. The TNT will look like it disappeared (except one row) and once it blows up, it does absolutely no damage, and does not move you at all. There is 64 TNT total. It does not matter what game mode, difficulty, or settings.
Player launches dont work on xbox at the moment. TNT just explodes in water with no effect to the player.
Please correct me if im wrong.
i believe your rite. i activate my tnt cannons from a switch a block away from the water trough they fall into. Water cancels all blowback from tnt towards entities.
