In my new 1.82 world I'm building a normal 30 X 80 mob trap as shown here...
But I don't want endermen to spawn in it and prevent other mobs from spawning, the standard version has a three high roof on it (I believe it's three high to allow mobs to jump and therefore move off the spawning pads quicker but correct me if I'm mistaken); I'm considering putting up-side-down slabs on the roof in order to prevent endermen from spawning while still allowing regular mobs to jump.
Any feedback as to whether or not this is a good idea?
You cannot put slabs on the bottom side of blocks, they will appear below where you want it.

Religion, has actually convinced people, that there's an invisible man, living in the sky, who watches everything you do every minute of the day, and the invisible man has a special list. Of 10 things he doesn't want you to do. And if you do ANY of these ten things he has a special place, full of fire, and smoke, and burning, and torture, and will send you there to suffer and choke and scream for all of eternity... But he still loves you.
I don't believe it will effect it to have a 2 high roof.
Docm 77 made a mob trap right after this update came out on pc that killed the endermen. does anyone know what version of endermen these are, are they the ones that can only pick up things like dirt and gravel, or are these the one that can pick up almost anything?
Doc used furnaces because when he made it because they couldn't pick them up and it was one of few thing that they couldn't.
And if you can fit signs on the outside blocks of your spawn pads (assuming the drop is at least 2 blocks into a channel), it'll trick mobs into thinking there's solid ground 1 block out from the pad. It'll result in mobs dropping faster.

If anyone wants to play Bauldur's Gate (1, 2, or enhanced) or Icewind Dale PLEASE PM me. I'd like to play.
are you not wanting to kill th endermen. or just dont care for the useless ender pearls. . if your ok with making it so it kills endermen make it 44 deep instead of th 20 something for normal mobs.
It's usually 3 high as mobs move faster when they are allowed to jump in water. If you aren't using a water system to push them off the spawning platform, 2 high will work just fine.
Keep in mind we will eventually get smarter mobs, so you will eventually need to flush your mob traps to get them to drop off the edges.
If you want your world to stay active for multiple updates, it's worth planning for that eventuality.
2 high mob systems are the way to prevent enderman from spawning in your trap, it doesnt effect the mobs walking around/off your edges. As puma said use signs to trick the mobs (later this was patched so you would have to use trap doors in the open state)
Enderman teleport as soon as they touch water too.

Ah right you are, I had read on the wiki that you can, but I guess that doesn't apply to the xbox version.

Retired StaffUpside down slabs come in a later update. Just make your spawning room 2-high. It won't effect mob movement much.. if at all.
