1. Controller layout. It was said they would enable sprinting by pressing down the thumbstick, not by moving forward twice. That control scheme makes sense on PC, which I'm guessing is where you guys got the idea, but these are two different mediums of control, and the best option for one may not be the best for the other.
Upon that, I was hoping we would get some level of custom button mapping... After all, the first problem wouldn't be a problem if that was a thing; and it should be a thing. Unbelievably helpful feature...
2. Deadzones on thumbstick. With the lovely new addition (see above) and control scheme, I can barely walk forward half the time. It slows to an absolute crawl now that you guys have decided to allocate the movement of a thumbstick for another function, and it's biting ME in the ass. I know a lot of people aren't having trouble with this; my thumbsticks are a little worn and tend to move my ingame characters by themselves sometimes, but that's to be expected from the mechanical nature of thumbsticks.
As I said earlier, custom button remapping should be vital to prevent issues like this. I wouldn't even have any issues if it was already in the game... I've been waiting for this update for long time now, and now I can't even enjoy it.
I think #2 is probably because your controller is just old. i dont have that problem at all, nor have i seen anyone else with it. I agree with #1 though, as i have in about 50 other threads...
I don't have a problem with it...I got used to the controls not being like a shooter....way before the update. I can see how some people could be upset, but before the update you couldn't even sprint. I actually think the game is too easy now. It's still fun don't get me wrong but I treat survival like creative, after I spend the first few game days gathering resources. I have too much stuff. I don't know, I just seem to be babbling now.
I just don't see how you can't just deal with the new controls. It's not like all those other games that have you sprint by clicking in the left stick.
It sounds too me like you need to get a new controller anyways, maybe that's why you hate the new sprint "option"

Yes i agree with number one due to people with slow controller skills

Considering my controller is just dandy for every single other game, it's a design flaw/oversight by the developers. Perhaps they should have taken into account ghost-walking thumbsticks; this is a very common problem with controllers. Hell that's even a fixable issue by just changing the deadzone values. (the radius at which a press/movement is registered)
i'd like to be able to change my button layout, but after playing for a couple days the sprint isn't so bad really. sure, it doesn't work every time you try...but it's not as bad as i originally thought.
also! my controller is like yours. sometimes it'll move on it's own, but i haven't had any trouble in MC. o:
whats the problem with the controls? My freaking thumbs stick is broken it moves my character by it self if i dont pull it back when i stop but i can still do parkour maps with sprint on it ._. its not that hard to get used to.
The option for swappable buttons is fancy, but id prefer getting villagers to changing any buttons to be honest. Just because I didnt make the game to my preferences doesnt mean I wouldnt play a game I enjoyed, to many people want control , be satisfied I understand its upsetting but just like that crappy game we have all sold back ounce to a gamestore.....dont like it dont play! Simple... Stop trying to put down someones work its not like its glitched where and enderman goes "moo" and chickens teleport....now that be a problem!

This.
By now, I have gotten used to all the controls, and if the option for changing buttons was added, I'm 99% percent sure not a lot of people would use it
No matter what control scheme sprinting is moved to, someone won't like it and think it should be _______.
If you press the left stick down to sprint (which is really an on/off switch), what would you change 3d person view to?
Even if you had the ability to customize the control layout, you'd end up having something controlled "funny".
There's a "standard control" layout for everyone.
You'll learn it.
(And get a new controller- I've gone through 3 so far).
It was said they would enable sprinting by pressing down the thumbstick, not by moving forward twice.
Actually, it was never said whether it would be that. They said they were trying out multiple ways of sprinting. Nobody knew that the current way made the final cut until just before they sent the update to Cert Testing.
30 people complain about it. The other 30,000 plus like the controls just fine. Its usually the people that complain that ever post stuff. The people that like it never really do. The 30 what makes it sound so bad. Think about it. If you get on any website that sells stuff, its only the people that complain that ever post. You never see the people you say its amazing. At least not as often.

That's great that you have grown accustomed to the unnecessary difficulties posed by this control scheme, but why would you rather they did nothing about it?

Uhh, if you made a game, would you prefer that customers of said game remained quiet about usability issues, bugs, etc? This is called criticism. A game doesn't magically get better if nobody says anything, which it sounds like you want to happen.

And if there was a custom button remapping, then everybody could find a layout good for them. You essentially countered your own argument with that. As per your question, I would change 3d person view to nothing, because I never use it and frankly don't care for it. Suddenly the button issue is gone, and at no loss for me. I've already gone through a number of controllers myself as I've owned my 360 since launch, but it isn't in such a state that it's worthless. It would be dumb to simply buy another one, and that certainly does not resolve the issue; a few months of intense use and the ghost-walking issue is back, then what? Just buy another one? That is not a solution is what I'm getting at.

That's not true at all. Many people post here praising the game. Aside from a few of my posts such as this one, I am among them. Problems need to be voiced for the developers to hear them. If they didn't, then it wouldn't get fixed, because the developer wouldn't even know about the problem in the first place.
Id rather have them work on something else rather than this tiny little problem. Common its not that hard to get use to Fix the Bugs the renaming world bug is pretty big this is nothing compare to that so ._.
I would have to agree that the current sprint is in an annoying spot. Well for me. It is about as bad as the click down for view change. Which i believe you can choose 1 of 3 options of scheme that are sooooo closely in design that make it redundant.
I like the triggers the way they are and basic movement/looking around...
Sure i have got use to the sprint feature, but do i like it the way it is... NO!.... It sprints when i down want it to so i have to move back a few paces just to look at what i was looking at before... usually have that problem when flying...
oh yeah flying with a triple jump took me a while to figure out that is what you do to be in fly mode...O_o
i thought it was supose to be double jump, but i guess triple jump makes it more challenging...?
Anyway I would prefer a full button assignment over those 3 supposed control schemes they have any day...
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
My First World, always getting back to is a pleasure I enjoy with each new update that brings in more things to add in.
I've noticed this feature with the sticks, but I assumed it was only when flying. Movement tends to stick on the X or Y axis when you're within a certain degree of it. It makes repetitive building a lot easier, which is what I'm usually doing, so I love this feature.
The controls are easy to get used to. At first i thought it was the most stupid layout in the world, now it doesn't bother me that much

The game is not easy, I find it more hard actually. I tried playing on hard more and the half heart per 5 second restoration is causing a lot of deaths XD Mostly by skeletons.

Wierd, when i played creative mode I double jumped and paused, goes straight into flying mode and works 100% of the time.
I've had my controller since the day the 360 came out and my controller is WORN out (i'm using it until its completely useless) and i have no problem with the deadzones.
But i do agree that it'd be nice if we could map our own controls.
Upon that, I was hoping we would get some level of custom button mapping... After all, the first problem wouldn't be a problem if that was a thing; and it should be a thing. Unbelievably helpful feature...

Retired StaffThe game is not easy, I find it more hard actually. I tried playing on hard more and the half heart per 5 second restoration is causing a lot of deaths XD Mostly by skeletons.

This never happens to me.
But i do agree that it'd be nice if we could map our own controls.
