I don't see an option for it in the crafting table...

I thought you just had to get a pumpkin and then you'd get the seeds from it like a melon slice.


Edit: Alright to answer my own question, and for anyone wanting to farm pumpkins.


For whatever reason, as of now you can't get seeds from pumpkins. You have to find them in chests in abandoned mineshafts. The way pumpkins grow is you plant the seeds on tilled dirt and it will grow a stem, that stem thens grows a pumpkin which can be harvested and the stem will produce more pumpkins. The "ripe" pumpkin stems drop around 0-4 seeds when broken, so you CAN still farm them, its just a little annoying.

That won't be added until the 1.2.3 update or whichever update is next. As of now you can only get pumpkin seed in abandoned mineshafts.

You get them from chests inside of mine shafts, by harvesting a fully grown pumpkin stem, or by just placing a pumpkin in a crafting grid.

Have you actually gotten a pumpkin seed from a pumpkin in xbox?

I just read the title update details for 1.8 on here and pumpkin seeds were not added to the crafting menu. Idk why the heck that is... I was really looking forward to that being added. I'd guess it was an oversight by 4j.

This was not an oversight. Crafting pumpkin seeds was not added to the PC version until 1.0, so we will get that with the next update.

According to the wiki that's incorrect. It doesn't anything about pumpkin seeds being changed past the 1.8 update other than a bug fix for it not spawning in mineshafts.

Sorry I got to this post by clicking on the new content feature. I didn't know this was an XBOX thread. I will leave now.

Okay that's good. In pc there was a bug in 1.8.2 that made it so they wouldn't spawn in abandoned shafts so I figured I was screwed. Do you know how many seeds you can get from harvesting a pumpkin stalk? As long as its at least 2 I'll be good to go.

Someone replyed in my thread that they got back 1 seed. So not sure if that's 100% of the time or not.

Meh. If that's the case then its not a viable source for more seeds. This is quite frustrating, however the rest of the update is fantastic.

1) Go into creative mode
2) go to the creative mode inventory thing and select the chest
3) put as many chests down as you want
4) go into creative mode inventory [whatever it's called] and PRESS Y over pumpkin seeds. Fill your hotbar with stacks of seeds.
5) place seeds in chest(s)
6) Save and exit game
7) Reload save but in survival
8) collect seeds from chest(s) and plant them
9) Harvest pumpkins and enjoy

And that concludes my tutorial.

I know I can use creative for that, but that's "cheating".
